About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Senior Hydrologist and Hydraulic Modeller to join our team at Strata Consulting. As a key member of our Flood Risk & Drainage team, you will play a crucial role in helping our clients successfully deliver development projects in accordance with the National Planning Policy Framework (NPPF).

Key Responsibilities
  • Lead the production of Flood Risk Assessments (FRAs) for development projects in the private sector and flood studies in the public sector.
  • Recognise and communicate flooding and drainage-related constraints and opportunities at development sites.
  • Produce and review a wide range of FRAs and drainage strategies using MicroDrainage / InfoDrainage.
  • Develop and maintain a good knowledge of the planning system, including policy and guidance such as the NPPF and SuDS Manual.
  • Collaborate with clients to understand their needs and provide expert advice on flood risk and drainage matters.
  • Contribute to the development of innovative solutions to complex flood risk and drainage challenges.
Requirements
  • At least 6 years' experience in hydrology, hydraulic modelling, and river engineering, ideally working for private and public sector clients.
  • Relevant professional qualification, such as Chartered Engineer (CEng) or Incorporated Engineer (IEng).
  • Excellent communication and project management skills, with the ability to work effectively in a client-facing role.
  • Good financial control and analytical skills, with the ability to manage budgets and resources effectively.
  • Strong knowledge of the water industry, including the public and private sectors.
