This role presents an exceptional opportunity for a leader to manage a prominent public mortuary serving the boroughs of Hammersmith & Fulham and Hounslow. The facility is equipped with extensive body storage capabilities, dual post-mortem examination rooms, a visitor reception area, a police identification suite, and a dedicated parking area.

As the designated mortuary for the West London Coroners Court, this facility provides essential services to both the Coroner and the Home Office, conducting routine, forensic, and high-risk post-mortem examinations.

Fulham Public Mortuary also serves as a Designated Disaster Mortuary, integral to the London Mass Fatalities Framework for West London. It has built a strong reputation for its support during disaster response, Disaster Victim Identification operations, and management of excess mortality incidents.

The Chief Mortuary Operations Manager will oversee the entire mortuary facility, managing and developing a team that includes a Deputy Mortuary Manager, an APT Trainee, and locum technicians. Establishing robust working relationships with Coroners Officers, Funeral Directors, laboratories, law enforcement, and pathologists is crucial for success in this role. Responsibilities include organizing the daily post-mortem schedule and delegating tasks effectively among team members. Additionally, the role may involve providing training sessions for various stakeholders, including law enforcement and medical professionals.

The Mortuary Manager will play a significant role in any planned renovations and projects.

This is a permanent, full-time position, comprising 36 hours per week, with an on-call rotation twice monthly. Overtime and on-call duties are compensated.
