As we continue to expand, we are seeking a highly skilled Data & BI Consultant with deep expertise in Power BI and data engineering to join our dynamic team. This role is pivotal in helping our clients harness the power of their data to drive strategic decision-making and achieve business objectives.
The Role
The Data & BI Consultant will act as a trusted advisor to our clients, providing expert guidance on how to leverage data for business success. This role requires a strong background in data analysis, data strategy, and consulting, combined with hands-on experience in Power BI and data engineering. The ideal candidate will have the ability to work closely with clients to understand their business needs, translate these into data-driven solutions, and deliver high-impact insights through advanced analytics and business intelligence tools.
Duties and Responsibilities
Data Consulting
- Engage with clients to understand their business objectives, challenges, and data needs.
- Provide strategic advice on data management, analytics, and business intelligence to drive informed decision-making.
- Conduct data assessments and identify opportunities to enhance data utilisation, governance, and analytics capabilities.
- Lead workshops and training sessions to elevate clients' data literacy and enable self-service analytics.
Power BI Expertise
- Design, develop, and maintain Power BI reports, dashboards, and data models tailored to client needs.
- Create visually compelling and actionable data visualisations that empower clients to make data-driven decisions.
- Implement best practices in Power BI, including DAX, data modelling, and report performance optimisation.
- Support SD staff in using Power BI effectively, enabling them to derive maximum value from data.
Data Engineering
- Utilise SQL Server and Azure Synapse to manage data extraction, transformation, and loading (ETL) processes.
- Ensure data quality, integrity, and accessibility across all client-facing analytics solutions.
- Collaborate with data engineering teams to design and optimise the data architecture that support robust BI solutions.
- Leverage Azure Data Fabric (nice to have) for advanced data integration and orchestration when applicable.
Client Collaboration
- Serve as a key point of contact for clients, ensuring clear communication and alignment on project goals.
- Translate complex technical concepts into clear, actionable insights for non-technical stakeholders.
- Build and maintain strong relationships with clients, fostering trust and long-term partnerships.
- Continuously seek feedback from clients to improve service delivery and client satisfaction.
Skills and Qualifications
Consulting Skills
- Proven experience in a data consulting role, with a strong ability to assess client needs and deliver tailored solutions.
- Excellent communication and presentation skills, capable of articulating complex data concepts to a broad audience.
- Strong problem-solving skills, with a proactive approach to identifying and addressing client challenges.
Technical Skills
- Advanced proficiency in Power BI, including DAX, Power Query, and data modelling.
- Strong SQL skills, with extensive experience in SQL Server and data warehousing.
- Experience with Azure Synapse Analytics and cloud-based data solutions.
- Understanding of ETL processes and data integration best practices.
Additional Skills (Nice to Have)
- Experience with Azure Data Fabric.
- Knowledge of other Azure services (e.g., Azure Data Lake, Azure SQL Database, Copilot, ChatGPT and Azure Machine Learning).
- Familiarity with cloud computing concepts and architecture.
Education and Experience
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Data Science, or a related field.
- 5+ years of experience in data consulting, data analytics, or a related role.
- Experience in a customer-facing role, preferably within a SaaS or consulting environment.
