WE ARE HIRING
ABOUT THE DEPARTMENT
The Ministry Department is dedicated to revitalizing and supporting both lay and ordained ministry across the Church of England. Our mission is to provide guidance and assistance to those exploring vocations, including ordinands, curates, lay ministers, and leaders at various levels, as well as dioceses and theological institutions.
Operating on a national scale, our team is responsible for managing resources, shaping policies, and offering the expertise and leadership necessary to nurture the ministry of the Church of England, ensuring its growth and vitality for future generations.
We collaborate with dioceses to create proactive strategies that encourage growth in ministerial vocations, fostering networks of practitioners, sharing best practices, and delivering high-quality training for diocesan directors of ordinands and advisors.
We also oversee the development of ministry and leadership throughout the entire lifecycle of clergy and lay ministries, which includes clergy human resources and senior leadership development.
ABOUT THE ROLE
The Vocations Marketing and Communications Specialist is a key member of the National Communication Teams, integrated within the National Development.
Your primary responsibility will be to engage, motivate, and influence all sectors of the Church to cultivate a vocational culture that encourages individuals of all ages and backgrounds to explore the diverse range of ministerial vocations available to them.
Your main duties will include:
- Formulating, executing, and leading a comprehensive marketing, communications, and engagement strategy; this role demands exceptional communication skills to effectively connect with stakeholders at national, diocesan, and local levels.
- Collaborating with stakeholders to widely communicate the ministerial needs of the Church and a variety of opportunities for discernment, learning, growth, and service.
- Creating and/or commissioning high-quality written and video content; this will also involve supporting the organization and development of both online and in-person engagement events.
Key Requirements
- The candidate will be required to travel to various dioceses within England.
The Church of England is committed to inclusivity and aims to reflect the diversity of the communities we serve nationwide. We welcome applications from all interested and suitably qualified individuals, with a particular encouragement for candidates from UK Minoritised Ethnicities (UKME)/Global Majority Heritage (GMH) and other under-represented groups.
WHAT WE OFFER
Your Salary
- A competitive salary of £56,833, alongside age-related pension contributions ranging from 8-15% of salary. We will also match any pension contributions you make up to an additional 3% of your salary.
Your Benefits:
- 25 days of annual leave (increasing to 30 days within 5 years), plus eight bank holidays and three additional days (pro-rated for part-time roles).
- We are open to flexible working arrangements, with an expectation of just 1-2 days per week in the office. Each request will be considered on a case-by-case basis to ensure it aligns with departmental needs, promoting a healthy work-life balance.
- We provide a range of services and initiatives under our Family Friendly Programme, including enhanced maternity leave, adoption leave, paternity leave, and shared parental leave. Additionally, we offer a structured induction program and access to various development opportunities, including apprenticeships.
- Access to Occupational Health and an Employee Assistance Programme.
- Access to the Department of Education Restaurant and Westminster Abbey with a guest.
- Eligibility for an Eyecare voucher.
- Opportunities to join the Civil Service Sports & Social Club and participate in various staff networks, groups, and societies.
