Vocations Marketing and Communications Specialist
2 months ago
WE ARE HIRING
ABOUT THE DEPARTMENT
The Ministry Department is dedicated to supporting and revitalizing both lay and ordained ministry within the Church of England. Our mission involves offering guidance and assistance to those exploring vocations, ordinands, curates, lay ministers, and leaders across all levels, as well as dioceses and theological institutions.
Our team operates on a national scale, managing resources, formulating policies, and providing the necessary expertise, guidance, and leadership to nurture the ministry of the Church of England, ensuring its continued growth and vitality. We oversee the discernment, formation, and deployment of ordained ministers, equipping the Church to fulfill its mission for generations to come.
We assist dioceses in crafting proactive strategies to cultivate vocations to ministry by bringing together networks of practitioners, sharing best practices, ensuring adequate resources, and offering high-quality training for diocesan directors of ordinands and advisors.
We guide the development of ministry and leadership for the entire lifecycle of clergy and lay ministries, including clergy human resources and senior leadership development.
ABOUT THE ROLE
The Vocations Marketing and Communications Officer position is part of the National Communication Teams, which fall under National Development.
Your primary responsibility will be to engage, motivate, and influence all sectors of the Church to promote a vocational culture where individuals, regardless of age or background, are encouraged and supported in exploring the diverse range of ministerial vocations available to them and others.
Your key responsibilities will include:
- Designing, implementing, and leading a comprehensive marketing, communications, and engagement strategy; this role requires exceptional communication skills to effectively engage with stakeholders at national, diocesan, and local levels in a clear and concise manner.
- Collaborating with stakeholders to widely communicate the ministerial needs of the Church and a multitude of opportunities for discernment, learning, growth, and service.
- Creating and/or commissioning high-quality written and video content and updates; this includes supporting the planning and execution of both online and in-person engagement events.
Key Requirements
- The candidate must be willing to travel to various dioceses within England.
The Church of England is committed to inclusivity and aims to reflect the diversity of the communities we serve across the nation. We welcome applications from all interested and suitably qualified individuals, particularly those from UK Minoritised Ethnicities (UKME)/Global Majority Heritage (GMH) and other under-represented groups.
WHAT WE OFFER
Your Salary
- A competitive salary of £56,833, along with age-related pension contributions ranging from 8-15% of salary. We will also match any pension contributions you make up to an additional 3% of your salary.
Your Benefits:
- 25 days of annual leave (increasing to 30 days within 5 years), plus eight bank holidays and three additional days (pro-rated for part-time work).
- We are open to flexible working arrangements, with an expectation of just 1-2 days per week in the office. Each request is considered on a case-by-case basis to ensure it aligns with departmental needs, allowing for a healthy work-life balance.
- We provide various services and initiatives under our Family Friendly Programme, including enhanced maternity leave, adoption leave, paternity leave, and shared parental leave. A structured induction program and access to a range of development opportunities, including apprenticeships, are also available.
- Access to Occupational Health and an Employee Assistance Programme.
- Access to the Department of Education Restaurant and Westminster Abbey with a guest.
- Eligibility for an Eyecare voucher.
- Opportunities to join the Civil Service Sports & Social Club and participate in various staff networks, groups, and societies.
