About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled and compassionate Healthcare Support Worker to join our team at University Hospitals Bristol and Weston NHS Foundation Trust (UHBW). As a Senior Healthcare Support Worker, you will play a vital role in providing high-quality patient care and supporting our nursing staff in delivering exceptional healthcare services.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide direct patient care, maintaining the privacy and dignity of patients, while working alongside registered nurses to deliver essential nursing care for paediatric patients.
  • Assist patients with daily living tasks, including washing, toileting, and meal preparation, while promoting independence and dignity.
  • Support patients with mobility needs, providing pressure area care, and ensuring a safe and clean environment.
  • Provide emotional support to patients and their families, while maintaining a calm and caring patient manner.
  • Take and record patients' vital signs, identifying and escalating changes to a patient's condition to the registered nurse.
  • Train and support new and junior team members, including student nurses, in clinical skills and procedures.
Requirements
  • Experience of providing care in a healthcare or social setting.
  • Ability to work as a member of a team, prioritizing work and managing time effectively.
  • Effective communication skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to complete accurate documentation.
  • Commitment to providing high-quality patient care, with a caring approach to patients and relatives.
  • Level 3 (SCQF - 6) qualification or equivalent experience, including Level 2 Functional skills in English and Math's.
  • Ability to work with minimum supervision, demonstrating flexibility and adaptability to change.
