Position Overview

We are pleased to announce a rewarding opportunity for a Lead Clinical Psychologist with both managerial and clinical expertise to become a vital part of our Neuropsychology Service. This role focuses on supporting adults who have undergone a stroke, primarily within a clinical environment, while also necessitating occasional home visits and travel to various rehabilitation settings. The successful candidate will be responsible for providing leadership and clinical oversight to fellow team members, collaborating closely with the senior management team to ensure the delivery of exceptional and responsive services across the region. Our service is dedicated to engaging in significant neuropsychology initiatives and partnerships at both regional and national levels, offering avenues for professional growth and specialization.

Requirements

The candidate must possess a full, valid UK driving license and have access to a vehicle for business-related travel (unless exempt under the Equality Act 2010).

Key Responsibilities

The Kent Neuropsychology Service specializes in comprehensive assessment, rehabilitation, and psychological support for individuals affected by stroke, acquired brain injuries, and chronic neurological conditions throughout the region.

The Lead Clinical Psychologist will:

  • Conduct advanced neuropsychological assessments and therapeutic interventions for adults referred to the service.
  • Collaborate closely with the Medway Stroke Team, fostering a supportive environment for neuropsychological practices.
  • Develop and execute tailored neuropsychological treatment plans based on a thorough psychological understanding and adherence to evidence-based practices.
  • Implement a variety of psychological therapeutic techniques, utilizing diverse psychological frameworks.
  • Provide expert neuropsychological insights during multidisciplinary assessments involving adults and their families.
  • Actively participate as a member of the Kent Neuropsychology Service.
  • Oversee the clinical supervision and professional development of other psychology staff members.

Candidate Profile

Skills and Qualifications

Essential

  • Doctorate in Clinical Psychology
  • HCPC Registration as a Practitioner Psychologist
  • Additional Training / CPD in Neuropsychology
  • Training in Supervision Skills

Desirable

  • Further formal qualifications in Neuropsychology or related fields, such as QICN

Clinical Experience

Essential

  • Proven experience working with individuals affected by stroke, brain injuries, or other neurological conditions
  • Experience collaborating with multidisciplinary teams
  • A minimum of four years of clinical experience post-qualification

Desirable

  • Experience in stroke-specific services, whether in community or inpatient settings

Management Experience

Essential

  • Proven experience in managing and supervising clinical staff
  • Experience in supervising psychology professionals

Desirable

  • Training in management practices
