Position Overview

We are seeking a Band 6 Senior Rehabilitation Therapist for a fixed-term opportunity, ideal for those looking to advance their professional journey and embrace new challenges. The successful candidate will be a proactive and enthusiastic individual, joining our dedicated Elderly Medical Team.

In this role, you will function as an independent practitioner within an integrated team, delivering high-quality interventions tailored to the specialty.

Our integrated team is devoted to providing specialized assessment, diagnosis, and treatment for patients in the elderly and frailty sectors. You will collaborate with colleagues as an autonomous practitioner, applying advanced clinical reasoning to ensure personalized, proactive, and holistic assessment and treatment planning.

Key Responsibilities

As a vital member of both the integrated rehabilitation service and the multidisciplinary teams on the wards, exceptional communication skills are essential.

As a Band 6 therapist, you will play a crucial role in mentoring and developing rotational Band 5 therapists. Additionally, the position involves supervising therapy support staff and providing educational guidance to therapy students during their placements.

You will have opportunities for innovation and are expected to engage actively in relevant quality improvement initiatives aimed at enhancing the Elderly Medicine team.

The integrated Rehabilitation Service is committed to delivering a progressive and forward-thinking approach to patient care while supporting staff in their personal development and ongoing education and training.

Qualifications and Experience

Essential

  • Degree in Occupational Therapy (3 years) or equivalent qualification
  • Registration with the Health and Care Professions Council (HCPC)
  • Basic kitchen hygiene certification

Experience

Essential

  • Minimum of 18 months clinical experience as a junior occupational therapist.
  • Experience across various clinical settings, including frailty, acute medicine, orthopaedics, and neurology.
