We are thrilled to announce openings at Barking and Dagenham College for dedicated and student-focused Student Engagement Coordinators.

The remuneration for this position ranges from £28,400 to £30,801, inclusive of London Weighting, on a pro-rata basis. This role operates during term time, requiring 36 hours of work per week across 38 weeks annually.

The Student Engagement Coordinator will report directly to the Student Engagement Manager. You will serve as a positive role model for students, fostering good conduct by actively engaging with both students and staff, and professionally addressing any confrontational situations that may arise within the College environment.

You will play a vital role in the cross-college support and services team, monitoring student conduct when necessary.

Key Responsibilities:

  • React promptly to incidents and disturbances, employing various strategies to effectively resolve conflicts.
  • Be available for daytime and evening shifts as scheduled by the Student Engagement Manager.
  • Serve as an onsite First Aider, Mental Health First Aider, and Fire Warden.
  • Facilitate disciplinary referrals when necessary, providing supporting evidence such as CCTV footage or witness statements for hearings.
  • Foster and maintain positive relationships with local authorities, including the Police, PCSO, and community groups.
  • Oversee and support student social areas, such as common rooms.

Ideal Candidates Will Possess:

  • Experience in an educational setting.
  • Skills in behavior management, de-escalation techniques, or relevant qualifications that promote student safety.
  • A solid understanding of Child and Vulnerable Adult protection policies, with a commitment to ongoing learning.
  • The ability to work collaboratively as part of a team, demonstrating flexibility and adaptability to meet organizational needs.
