Position Overview


The Life Support Supervisor acts as the Shift Supervisor, directly accountable to the on-duty Diving Supervisor for ensuring the health and safety of all Divers within the saturation diving environment.

Key Responsibilities

Core Functions

PRIMARY

  • Ensure the number of Divers under pressure in the saturation system does not exceed the certified maximum capacity.
  • Supervise and verify the qualifications and competencies of Life Support Technicians (LSTs).
  • Regularly check all diving first aid and medical equipment for compliance.
  • Maintain qualifications as a fully certified LST with IMCA credentials.
  • Understand and adhere to the responsibilities outlined in IMCA D 013.
  • Safeguard the health and safety of the diving team while in the saturation system, reporting to the Diving Supervisor.
  • Familiarize with all relevant components of the Dive System and associated operating procedures.
  • Ensure all equipment is suitable, well-maintained, and compliant with relevant standards and certifications.
  • Oversee all Transfers Under Pressure, ensuring adherence to Oceaneering's operational procedures.
  • Be knowledgeable about Oceaneering's Diving Operations documentation, including the Diving Manual and Emergency Procedures.
  • Retain original copies of all monitoring and control logs, ensuring they are returned to the Diving Manager.
  • Familiarize with the Management of Change Process and ensure compliance when changes are necessary.
  • Participate in discussions regarding procedural revisions, providing necessary information and reviewing for safety considerations.
  • Be well-versed in all diving-related emergency procedures and ensure regular drills are conducted.
  • Ensure adequate gas supplies are available for planned diving operations and manage additional gases for decompression needs.
  • Maintain an adequate stock of saturation control consumables at all times.
  • Ensure safe and efficient gas mixing operations and familiarize with gas mixing equipment.
  • Understand compressor operations and ensure their safe use.
  • Advise on gas requirements to maintain Minimum Gas Requirement (MGR) levels.
  • Maintain a gas-status board in the Saturation Control area.
  • Uphold HSE responsibilities and maintain accurate logs of operations and incidents.
  • Prepare and manage hyperbaric evacuation and rescue plans.
  • Implement HES procedures and manage life support systems during emergencies.
  • Communicate effectively with hyperbaric medical professionals for specialist assistance.
  • Supervise therapeutic treatments for decompression sickness and other diving-related health issues.
  • Participate in all diving emergency drills and ensure familiarization with emergency systems.
  • Promote teamwork and cooperation among colleagues and supervisors.
  • Ensure effective management of information, resources, and personnel.
  • Foster a culture of safety and quality management within the company.
  • Complete necessary documentation and deliver clear objectives to team members.
  • Provide opportunities for learning and development within the team.
  • Conduct ongoing assessments of personnel under supervision.
  • Encourage open communication regarding safety concerns.
Additional Responsibilities

  • Uphold the company's quality assurance standards across all operations.
  • Ensure compliance with relevant legislative directives and operational manuals.
  • Maintain a routine preventative maintenance program for diving systems and equipment.
  • Conduct regular reviews of system audits.
  • Supervise the operation of all chamber-complex equipment, ensuring hygiene and safety procedures are followed.
  • Manage all diving gases and consumables efficiently.
  • Ensure all Life Support Personnel are well-trained and familiar with operational procedures.
  • Mentor and monitor the progress of Life Support Team members to enhance performance.
