Dermatology Clinical Nurse Specialist

We are seeking an experienced and motivated Clinical Nurse Specialist to join our team at Guy's and St Thomas' NHS Foundation Trust. The successful candidate will work in close collaboration with our dermatology clinicians to provide high-quality care to patients with skin cancer.
Key Responsibilities- Manage a caseload of patients with skin cancer, providing individualized and personalized direct patient care.
- Assess and recognize emergencies in the specialty, taking appropriate action and leading others to do the same.
- Act as an advocate for patients, ensuring a patient-oriented approach to care delivery and meeting standards within the NHS Plan and other relevant guidelines.
- Ensure patients receive high-quality clinical care and a good patient experience, having regard for their customs, religious beliefs, and doctrines.
- Recognize and avoid situations detrimental to the health and wellbeing of individuals.
- Engage service users through the facilitation of user groups and open days.
- Coordinate the provision of specialist services to patients, both within hospital and/or in the community setting, effectively liaising with multidisciplinary colleagues.
- Develop and run nurse-led clinics, coordinating treatment in conjunction with medical staff.
- Direct, support, encourage, and advise clinical teams, providing specialist knowledge and advice in patient care.
- Participate in the promotion of patient-centered care, establishing and maintaining a supportive relationship with patients and their families during assessment, treatment, and aftercare.
- Support and enable patients and carers to make informed decisions relating to their treatment and management.
- Promote high-quality clinical care, assisting in the development of the specialist service through evidence-based practice and clinical standards.
- Provide professional and clinical leadership and expertise in the specialty, acting as a resource for education and clinical expertise in hospital and community settings.
- Demonstrate expert practice and highly specialist advice in patient care, including history taking, physical examination, and requesting diagnostic procedures/clinical investigations.
- BSC/1st degree (health-related) or equivalent qualification/training and experience.
- Post-registration qualification in the appropriate area of specialty or equivalent post-qualification experience.
- Leadership course.
- Mentorship course.
- RN1 or RN Child Registered Nurse on the NMC register, holding the appropriate level for the area of specialty.
- Masters degree.
- Non-medical physical assessment course.
