Position Overview

The Mortuary Services Administrative Officer plays a crucial role in providing comprehensive administrative and clerical assistance within the Mortuary and Bereavement office. Key responsibilities include:

  • Addressing general inquiries through various communication channels, including phone, email, and in-person interactions.
  • Inputting data into the Mortuary information system and the Hospital information system.
  • Managing Post Mortem requests and coordinating with Pathologists and Anatomical Pathology Technicians (APTs) for examination scheduling.
  • Collaborating with APTs and Bereavement staff to facilitate viewings of the deceased.
  • Engaging with external entities such as law enforcement, Coroners, and funeral service providers.
  • Assisting with the admission and release processes of deceased patients during peak times.
  • Supporting the completion of audits and necessary legal documentation.

Role Details

This position is situated within the Mortuary Department and is designed to provide essential support to the Anatomical Pathology Technicians and the Bereavement/Tissue Donation Team. The role may occasionally involve limited interaction with patients.

Work Schedule: Monday to Friday
