Position Overview

The Mortuary Services Administrative Officer plays a crucial role in providing comprehensive administrative and clerical assistance within the Mortuary and Bereavement department. Key responsibilities include:

  • Addressing general inquiries through various communication channels, including phone, email, and in-person interactions.
  • Performing data entry tasks utilizing the Mortuary information system and Hospital information system.
  • Managing Post Mortem requests and coordinating with Pathologists and Anatomical Pathology Technicians (APTs) for examination scheduling.
  • Collaborating with APTs and Bereavement personnel to facilitate viewings of the deceased.
  • Engaging with external entities such as law enforcement, Coroner's office, and funeral service providers.
  • Assisting with the admission and release processes of deceased individuals during periods of staff shortages.
  • Supporting the completion of audits and other essential legal documentation.

Role Details

This position offers an opportunity to work within the Mortuary Department, providing vital support to the Anatomical Pathology Technicians and the Bereavement/Tissue Donation Team. The role may occasionally involve limited interaction with patients.

Work Schedule: Monday to Friday
