Role Overview

The Global Media Manager will primarily oversee earned media relations and social media initiatives in selected markets to bolster the strategic promotion of Valneva's expanding vaccine portfolio. The ideal candidate will excel in managing and enhancing Valneva's global social media platforms to effectively amplify its corporate messaging.

This position is part of the Global Communications Team and serves as the communications liaison to the marketing and commercial teams, ensuring message alignment and consistency. A high level of credibility and strong interpersonal skills are essential for supporting the execution of both external and internal communication strategies.

The role demands the ability to manage multiple complex projects simultaneously while prioritizing key objectives amidst the dynamic challenges of a global business environment.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead the planning and execution of impactful public relations and social media campaigns to highlight Valneva's vaccine offerings, focusing on increasing disease awareness and promoting our travel vaccine sector.
  • Enhance Valneva's commercial vaccine portfolio through proactive media outreach and earned public relations opportunities in targeted regions.
  • Oversee and expand Valneva's global social media presence, ensuring consistent brand messaging across all channels.
  • Facilitate regular internal communications to reinforce product messaging and strengthen connections with our mission.
  • Effectively manage agency partnerships to achieve business objectives and ensure a strong return on investment.
  • Support Global Marketing Communications and Country brand teams with annual planning and execution of earned and owned media campaigns.
  • Anticipate and prepare for product-related challenges to enable swift and appropriate responses both internally and externally.

Qualifications

  • In-depth knowledge of the global regulatory landscape, including risks, challenges, and opportunities within the healthcare sector, particularly in the US, Canada, UK, and Europe.
  • Strong business acumen and understanding of the commercial landscape.
  • Exceptional project management capabilities.
  • Experience in executing campaigns across traditional and digital platforms, integrating earned, owned, and paid strategies.
  • Proven track record in developing, implementing, and measuring public relations and social media strategies that align with commercial goals.
  • Ability to cultivate and maintain strong relationships with key stakeholders across various functions and cultures.
  • Experience collaborating with external agencies and managing those relationships effectively.

Essential Skills

  • Significant experience in the pharmaceutical or healthcare communications sector, preferably with a focus on vaccines or infectious diseases.
  • Extensive background in healthcare product communications, with experience in marketed product communications.
  • Preferably strong experience across key markets, including North America, Europe, and the UK.
  • A solid understanding of owned and earned media execution, along with experience in media relations.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to create engaging content such as narratives, presentations, speeches, and video scripts for senior leadership.
  • A high level of credibility and strong interpersonal skills to influence senior stakeholders effectively.
  • Ability to thrive in an international organization and prioritize tasks in a fast-paced, unpredictable environment with high accountability.
  • Valneva operates within a highly regulated environment, necessitating a clear understanding of the healthcare industry, including relevant regulations and codes of conduct governing communications.
