Key Responsibilities

The successful candidate will assist the lead pharmacy technician in delivering an effective dispensing, procurement, and distribution service in accordance with established standard operating procedures (SOPs).

Key responsibilities include:

  • Methodically and accurately dispensing a variety of prescription types.
  • Supporting the ordering, receiving, and invoicing processes for pharmacy inventory.
  • Ensuring stock is managed according to manufacturer guidelines, including temperature monitoring, proper stock rotation, and expiry date checks.
  • Providing a stock replenishment service to inpatient units.
  • Assisting in the training and development of all team members regarding dispensary-related tasks.
  • Collaborating with the Lead Pharmacy Technician to coordinate dispensary workflow effectively.
  • Ensuring service users receive comprehensive information about their medications.
  • Performing reception duties, including managing inquiries and triaging phone calls within the dispensary.

Job Requirements

The role involves assisting the Technical Services Manager in providing an efficient dispensing, stores, and distribution service in accordance with SOPs. Responsibilities include day-to-day management and supervision of the pharmacy assistant team.

Qualifications and Experience

Essential

  • Minimum of 3 GCSEs.
  • NVQ Level 2 in Pharmacy Services or equivalent.
  • Level 3 qualification in pharmacy or relevant experience.
  • Demonstrable experience as a Pharmacy Assistant.
  • Experience in stock ordering and distribution SOPs.
  • Experience in a busy dispensing environment.
  • Ability to organize workload effectively.
  • Experience in supervising or mentoring staff.

  • Information Governance training.
