Tearfund Nigeria is seeking a qualified indigene of Oyo state to fill the role of Office Assistant based in Ibadan. The details of the position are outlined below:

Job Title: Office Assistant - Strengthening Women Economic Empowerment Project (SWEEP)

Salary: NGN 3,992, Gross per annum

Location: Ibadan, Oyo State, Nigeria

Hours: Full time; 40 hours/week

Contract Length: 1 year

This is a local national package; applicants must have permission to work in Nigeria.

The Office Assistant will be tasked with maintaining cleanliness and ensuring proper hygiene and sanitary conditions in and around the Ibadan office.

The successful candidate will also assist with various logistical responsibilities in the Ibadan office, including driving, maintaining, and ensuring the safety of Tearfund vehicles. This includes keeping all vehicles in optimal mechanical condition through regular servicing and maintenance, managing vehicle logs, and ensuring that all vehicle movements are accurately recorded and reported monthly. The candidate will also ensure that all staff vehicles used for Tearfund activities have appropriate movement logs, authorized by the Country Director or their designate. Responsibilities also include safely transporting individuals and cargo while keeping all vehicles in excellent condition.

Additionally, the candidate will ensure that all vehicles are equipped with security systems and will collaborate with the Logistics Manager to achieve comprehensive vehicle and fleet security. The Office Assistant will also support the Logistics Officer in maintaining communication with the dispatch team to stay informed about delivery or transport situations.

The ideal candidate will possess:

  • A completed secondary school or college certificate in any field
  • A minimum of 1 year of experience in cleaning and sanitation
  • At least 3 years of driving experience with a valid driver's license
  • A minimum of 1 year of experience in planning and coordinating logistics activities, including transportation, warehousing, and inventory management
  • Proven experience in logistics and supporting project implementation and management
  • Oral and written proficiency in the primary local language (Yoruba)
  • Fluency in written and spoken English
  • Strong prioritization skills
  • Ability to lead and facilitate team prayer and Bible studies
  • Commitment to applying biblical principles in all aspects of the role
  • Knowledge of health and safety practices in the workplace
  • Excellent organizational and scheduling abilities
  • Computer literacy, including experience with MS Word and Excel
  • Confidence in discussing personal faith
  • An understanding of Christian relief and development issues
  • Secretarial or administrative qualifications
  • Experience in development work with Christian organizations
  • General office management skills
  • Basic house maintenance abilities
  • Creativity
