Tearfund Nigeria is seeking a qualified indigene of Oyo state to fill the role of Office Assistant based in Ibadan. The details of the position are outlined below:

Position Title: Office Assistant - Strengthening Women Economic Empowerment Project (SWEEP)

Compensation: NGN 3,992, Gross per annum

Location: Ibadan, Oyo State, Nigeria

Working Hours: Full-time; 40 hours/week

Contract Duration: 1 year

This is a local national package; applicants must have the right to work in Nigeria.

The Office Assistant will be tasked with maintaining cleanliness and ensuring high standards of hygiene and sanitation in and around the Ibadan office.

The role will also involve supporting logistical operations at the Ibadan office, including driving, vehicle maintenance, and safety. The Office Assistant will ensure that all vehicles are kept in optimal mechanical condition through regular servicing and maintenance. Responsibilities include managing vehicle logs and ensuring all movements are accurately recorded and reported monthly. The Assistant will also ensure that all staff vehicles used for Tearfund activities have appropriate movement logs and that such movements are authorized by the Country Director or designated authority. Safe transportation of personnel and cargo using Tearfund vehicles while maintaining their condition is essential.

Additionally, the Office Assistant will ensure that all vehicles are equipped with security systems and will collaborate with the Logistics Manager to ensure comprehensive vehicle and fleet security. The Assistant will assist the Logistics Officer in maintaining communication with the dispatch team to stay informed about delivery or transportation situations.

The ideal candidate will possess:

  • A secondary school completion or a college certificate in any field
  • A minimum of 1 year of experience in cleaning and sanitation
  • At least 3 years of driving experience with a valid driver's license
  • A minimum of 1 year of experience in planning and coordinating logistics activities, including transportation, warehousing, and inventory management
  • Proven experience in logistics
  • Support for project implementation and management
  • Oral and written proficiency in the primary local language (Yoruba)
  • Fluency in written and spoken English
  • Strong prioritization skills
  • Ability to lead and facilitate team prayer and Bible studies
  • Commitment to applying biblical principles in all aspects of the role
  • Knowledge of health and safety practices at work
  • Good organizational and scheduling abilities
  • Computer literacy, including experience with MS Word and Excel
  • Confidence in discussing personal faith
  • An understanding of Christian relief and development issues
  • Secretarial or administrative qualifications
