Position Overview

The Planning Officer at Vox Network Consultants plays a crucial role in managing Development Management tasks within a collaborative team environment. This position involves overseeing pre-application consultations, evaluating both major and minor planning submissions, addressing conditions and appeals, and engaging in negotiations with developers and stakeholders to secure community benefits through legal agreements.

Key Responsibilities

  • Ensure that all advice and recommendations align with the organization's planning policies, standards, and applicable government regulations.
  • Contribute to enhancing service delivery by implementing best practices and maintaining customer-focused standards in a regulatory framework.
  • Adhere to the organization's policies and Code of Conduct, with a strong commitment to equal opportunities.
  • Manage the administrative and technical processes required for compliance with Planning Acts, ensuring high-quality outcomes that meet established standards.
  • Engage in correspondence and discussions with the public and relevant council officers to facilitate the determination of planning applications.
  • Conduct effective consultations and liaise with local interests, statutory bodies, and other council services regarding Development Management issues.
  • Advance a variety of applications under the Planning Acts and negotiate planning agreements as necessary.

Essential Knowledge and Skills

  • Ability to advocate for and implement equal opportunities in line with organizational guidelines.
  • Proficiency in interpreting plans, drawings, and other technical documents related to planning applications.
  • Competence in utilizing IT systems and equipment effectively.
  • Strong understanding of planning legislation and the plan-led system.
  • Awareness of planning challenges specific to urban environments.
  • Familiarity with industry best practices.

Qualifications

  • A relevant qualification in Town Planning or a related field that supports membership in a recognized planning institute.
  • Willingness to participate in meetings or perform duties outside of standard working hours as required.
