Principal Clinical Psychologist in Gastroenterology

Salary: £58,972 to £68,525 - Band 8b

Location: Hybrid

We are looking for a dedicated and empathetic Clinical Psychologist specializing in health psychology, particularly for long-term physical health conditions. In this role, you will be an integral part of the clinical team, working under the guidance of the Consultant Psychologist to manage a diverse clinical caseload and contribute to the leadership of psychological service delivery within the Gastroenterology Service.

The successful candidate will become a vital member of our dynamic and expanding Clinical Health Psychology Service, which encompasses various specialties including ICU, Haematology, Cancer, Pain Management, ME/CFS, Diabetes, Bariatrics, and more.

Main Responsibilities:

  1. Provide expert advice and consultation regarding patients' psychological care to other clinical team members involved in integrated care and treatment.
  2. Deliver both direct and indirect psychological interventions for patients with gastrointestinal conditions, including inpatient care and co-facilitating group therapy sessions.
  3. Lead initiatives on service delivery, planning, and care pathways to enhance patient outcomes.

Essential Qualifications:

  1. Doctoral degree in clinical or counselling psychology.
  2. Experience in specialist assessment and treatment in physical health settings.
  3. Relevant experience in managing patients with gastrointestinal conditions.
  4. Background in collaborating with clinical teams for service enhancement.
  5. HCPC registration.
