We are looking to appoint an Cancer Services Data Lead who will support the Cancer Service Manager and Cancer Performance Manager with the validation, completion, submission and reporting of National Cancer Datasets and returns.. Supporting teams with areas for improvement and development.

The main duties of this job description are explained, however, these will continue to evolve to meet the needs of Cancer Services.

Ensure relevant clinical and management teams have oversight of local cancer data and national reporting and outcome data, working closely with the Clinical and Cancer Teams.

Validate and report breaches. This includes negotiating tertiary breaches with other organisations.

Develop and maintain a training and access levels for users of the Cancer register.

Maintain training resources, provide initial training or changes in practice for the Cancer MDT Coordinator team, ensuring concerns of competency in use of the systems and data quality are raised with the Administrative Lead.

Support the management of the Somerset Cancer Register (SCR) system, including any upgrades, testing and developments.

Use coaching and mentoring techniques to support individuals within the team in reaching their potential.

Responsible for the submissions of standardised mandated reporting such as the weekly Cancer PTL, monthly Cancer waiting times, COSD, SACT and clinical audits.

Support the provision of assurance returns for ongoing projects.

Responsible for the validation, quality, and completeness of staging and wider COSD dataset.

Provided local reporting for COSD compliance and Cancer waiting times and any other Trust priorities for Cancer

Responsible for providing data to support finance teams on activity provided by cancer teams.

There will be an element of education to clinical teams and administrators on data capture and reporting needs.
