A warm welcome from The John Lewis Partnership Thanks for your interest in joining us.

We offer a range of incredible benefits that set us apart, including significant discounts, VIP hotel suites, flexible working arrangements, equal parenthood leave and more. Our business is a dynamic retail network, but it’s so much more than just retail.

We are branching out into other sectors like built-to-rent, financial services, technology offerings and more, featuring diverse departments that offer an extensive array of products, food options, experiences, and services.

We are dedicated to both the people we serve and the Partners who contribute to our success. For that is the shared purpose that drives us. By working together, in Partnership, we are creating a place with happier people, for a happier business and a happier world.

We have an exciting opportunity for a talented Delivery & Operations Lead to join our John Lewis Digital Delivery team.

As a leader of our Agile delivery teams, you will be instrumental in guiding teams taking products from their conception through to implementation, utilising your passion for delivery and an excellent understanding of how to define and deliver solutions interactively and collaboratively in order to achieve business outcomes and value.

You will assure, execute and maintain digital services within a specific functional domain (e.g. customer, payment, order services, etc). Managing significant budgets, this role will maintain a strategic view of technical services, projects and outcomes whilst working and managing dependencies within and across domains. You will also focus on developing and maintaining stakeholder relationships, demonstrating effective influencing skills.

You will have the opportunity to develop and stretch personally and professionally to achieve your potential.

You will:

- Work closely with the Head(s) of Product, and Product Leads, to understand the Product strategy and help delivery teams execute on it for customer and business value.
- Implement architectural and business commerce strategy across Digital revenue streams.
- Have responsibility for entire digital domains, ensuring they work to exemplary standards, are highly skilled and remove impediments to success.
- Own and manage inter-portfolio dependencies across the Partnership, to mitigate business risk while protecting throughput and business value.
- Own and assure operability end-to-end on all digital services, ensuring teams self-support services to optimum risk/cost ratio.
- Empower Partners to learn and grow into contemporary agile ways of working, and you will facilitate enhancement of the skill levels of team members.
- Measure service(s) throughput, and value released, to ensure it is meeting the required business impact.
- Ensure Partners are empowered and enjoy their work by supporting their ownership of our most difficult problems.
- Optimise the cost of delivery by effectively managing Partners and 3rd Parties, driving efficiency and mitigating waste in the process.
- Line Manage Partners in-line with JLP principles, with clear OKRs and robust performance management.
- Have a deep understanding of the technology stacks teams are developing in, and will be curious to know and find out more to support the growth of the digital teams.
- Contribute to the development of an exemplary profession in delivery and operational capability.
- Build strong working relationships with other Delivery & Operations Leads and senior stakeholders across the wider Partnership, managing critical dependencies where applicable.
- Foster an open and honest environment where achievements are celebrated and mistakes are learned from, demonstrating a high level of personal accountability to help resolve conflicts, where necessary.
- Champion continuous improvement by encouraging teams to trial new techniques and ways of working and support them in their pursuit of high performance.
- Keep up to date with evolving agile practices, tools and techniques by active involvement with the external Agile Community via meetups / blogs / conferences etc.
