Support Worker Bank Staff

We are looking for a part time self-employed Family Support Worker who can provide interventions to families who need assistance.
**_To provide a bespoke, targeted and flexible Service that:_**
- prevents placement disruption for those children already in care;
- prevents children going into care;
- prepares families, where children are in care, for reunification;
- promotes positive emotions and experiences for Service Users;
- provides guidance and support around change and demonstrates innovative ways of learning;
- focuses on whole family wellbeing and empowers families;
- works within the child protection framework at all times.
- is able to challenge families in a constructive and supportive manner; and
- is able to manage risk and recognise safeguarding concerns.
**Family Support Worker**
- take the requests of Service Users into consideration but remain assertive and focus on the outcomes of the support package;
- work collaboratively with other relevant agencies;
- encourage good relations and effective dialogue between Service Users and other agencies involved in a case;
- attend any relevant meetings. Working with the Council and other agencies by contributing, where reasonably requested, to any meetings called in relation to Service Users
- accompany Service Users to meetings, as and when requested by the Council, and where prior written agreement has been given;
- work directly with parents/carers and children and appropriately convey the voices of the family back to each other and to any relevant agencies;
- keep child focused, balance support against challenge, show openness and transparency, build trust and respect, be action focused, empower families and present information in ways the whole family can relate to
- support Service Users through any transitional phases;
- Support Service Users with social, emotional, health or behavioural issues, and work with them and other support agencies
- provide impartial information to Service Users about relevant and available local services that they can access, including those provided by: education, social care, youth service, youth offending team, childcare providers, children’s centres, the voluntary sector and others. Where appropriate and relevant, you shall make referrals to other services only after receiving confirmation from the Authorising Officer that they can do so.
- Undertake activity & interventions as agreed by the case holding social worker, which support the plan for the child, young person & family, including supervised contact activity.
- Attend meetings, reviews, case conferences and court hearings (as directed by the case holding social worker) to provide information, insight and evidence which builds a comprehensive and rounded understanding of the child's needs.
- Record work and activity in accordance with the service policies & procedures, including case records.
- Work collaboratively with other Child & Family Support Workers, Social Workers and Managers to contribute to the overall work and success of the team, and to ensure improved outcomes for children.
**Supervised Contact Worker**
- Undertake activity & interventions as agreed by the case holding social worker, which support the plan for the child, young person & family, including supervised contact activity.
- Build strong, effective relationships with the child, young person and family which support relationship and strengths based social work practice. Maintain high standards of professionalism which contribute to the level of confidence in Brightway Contact Services.
- Provide information and advice in relation to involvement/accessing of third party agencies relevant to the needs of the child, young person & family (e.g. benefits agencies, immigration, housing), where necessary acting as an advocate
- Be a source of practical advice and support, enabling the child, young person & family to build their capability to sustain change and function effectively within the community.
- Attend meetings, reviews, case conferences and court hearings (as directed by the case holding social worker) to provide information, insight and evidence which builds a comprehensive and rounded understanding of the child's needs.

**Knowledge, Skills and Experience**
- NVQ/BTEC Level 3 or equivalent.
- Experience of building strong, effective relationships with children, young people and families in times of challenge and crisis.
