As a Night Youth Support Worker, you will be responsible for providing essential assistance and guidance to young people aged 16-17 in our semi-independent living home. The role involves fostering a positive and nurturing atmosphere which promotes personal development and ensures the wellbeing of residents. A successful applicant will demonstrate high levels of observational skills, using initiative and an understanding of safeguarding.
**Job Role / Responsibilities**
The Night Youth Support Worker will be responsible for:
- Ensuring all young people return to the placement by their curfew time.
- Reporting a young person as missing or recording unauthorised absences.
- Maintaining regular checks and contact with young people throughout the night to ensure their safety and wellbeing.
- Conducting thorough health and safety checks around the property.
- Offering support and assistance for young people during the night.
- Responding promptly and appropriately to any emergencies or incidents that occur during the night and reporting to the relevant parties.
- Following Outreach Homes’ policy and procedures for managing emergencies.
- Maintaining accurate records of incidents and observations during the night.
- Communicating effectively with daytime staff to exchange relevant information and updates regarding the young people’s needs and progress.
**Qualifications & Experience**
**Education**:
- Grade C or above in GCSE or equivalent English Language and Mathematics _(essential). _
- NVQ Level 3 Health & Social Care _(desirable). _
**Experience**:
- Minimum of 1 year experience working in the care sector with children and young people _(essential). _
- Experience in working night shifts and security _(essential). _
- Knowledge of Safeguarding and Data Protection _(essential). _
- Experience in lone-working with children and young people _(essential). _
- First Aid and Fire Safety Training _(desirable). _
**Safer Recruitment**
As part of Outreach Homes’ safer recruitment process, a cleared, enhanced Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) check is required for all employees before the commencing of their role. We also require a minimum of two references.
