**Salary/Benefits**:Fixed Term Contract - 12+ Months - £68,099 to £76,612

**Contract type**:Fixed Term

**Posted date**:08/02/2023

**About us...**

We’re on an exciting journey to create a simpler, better railway for everyone in Britain. Our people and culture are at the heart of this - we’re bringing together a wide/diverse range of people from across the rail sector and from other industries to help shape the future of Britain’s railway.

Joining the Great British Railway Transition Team (GBRTT) truly is a once-in-a-generation opportunity to be a part of something purposeful and revolutionary, where you can develop your skills and experience.

We believe people should be their authentic selves at work and be able to thrive, bringing unique experiences, fresh perspectives, and creative thinking to challenge conventional ways of doing things. If you’re up for an exciting challenge and like the sound of what we’re looking for then we’d love to hear from you

**What we're looking for....**

We’re looking for people who are prepared to roll their sleeves up and take ownership, making it their place to make informed decisions and get things done. We need to work together as an industry to design solutions that make things better for our customers, so we’re looking for people who can build great relationships and integrate with colleagues across the sector. We have a unique chance to change things for the better, and so embracing opportunity, using innovative and creative thinking - with a dose of healthy challenge - is critical to us. We’re driven by a passion to deliver for our customers and our colleagues, so people who show they care deeply about their work and for their colleagues are the kind we love and are looking for

**A bit about the team.**

The Financial Regulatory Reform Team is working with the Department for Transport and the Office of Rail and Road to develop critical frameworks that Great British Railways (GBR) will be required to operate within. This includes creation of a new governance framework that sets the relationships between GBR, the sponsor government department and the regulator; and the financial framework that sets GBR’s financial parameters. These will support the creation of GBR as new guiding mind for the railway sector as a whole, while also enabling it to be held to account for delivery of planned outcomes.

**The job.**

This is an exciting opportunity for you to lead the development of GBR’s input to the future regulatory frameworks for GBR and the wider rail sector.

Your expertise and leading thought will be key to influence and recommend regulatory framework design options for a Simpler, Better Railway. You will be developing strategic and policy proposals for regulatory frameworks, including the GBR Licence and the approach to access charges. As the transition towards GBR goes on, you will also be involved in a wider range of issues. You'll work collaboratively with the Department for Transport, Office of Rail and Road, Network Rail, and other industry partners.

**What you’ll bring..**
- Strong understanding of economic regulation and / or financial management, ideally within the rail sector.
- Strong leadership and interpersonal skills, with the ability to establish cross-sector relationships, build credibility and support with practitioners and leaders, and drive cultural organisational change
- Proven capability to lead fast-paced cross-sector policy or strategy development by working across teams and organisations (preferably in the rail sector)
- Excellent communication and influencing skills, including an ability to develop compelling written reports or presentations, with ability to present detailed technical concepts in an accessible format for different audiences
- Proven ability to synthesise complex information, understand and identify risks and opportunities.
- Highly organised and able to manage multiple priorities at the same time.
- Confident in leading others, build a collaborative team culture and bring together diverse views and perspectives.

**What does our recruitment process look like**

This role is available on a **Fixed Term Contract** and **Secondment** basis until 31st March 2024.
