At Ofgem you’ll have the opportunity to work flexibly across Ofgem on a range of projects or may have a longer deployment within a team where you have in-demand specialist skills, knowledge, and expertise. This role sits with Ofgem’s Policy & Strategy profession and the initial deployment will be in Delivery and Schemes, which is the directorate that is the delivery arm of Ofgem. The Policy and Scheme Development team are the policy centre for delivering pioneering social and environmental schemes that protect vulnerable consumers and advance Ofgem and government’s decarbonisation goals.

You’ll take on a varied and challenging workload, owning and supporting the drafting of clear and concise documents, communicating the benefits, challenges and trade-off’s of policy profession proposals to senior colleagues and developing understanding of technical aspects of scheme rules and the surrounding legislation and standards

You will also have the ability to build effective relationships with stakeholder, excellent written and verbal communication skills and be able to manage different priorities to deliver against challenging deadlines.

**Job description**:

This role sits with Ofgem’s Policy & Strategy profession and the initial deployment will be in Delivery and Schemes, which is the directorate that is the delivery arm of Ofgem.

Ofgem operates a flexible working model. Longer-term, you will have the opportunity to work flexibly across Ofgem on a range of projects.

The Policy and Scheme Development team are the policy centre for delivering pioneering social and environmental schemes that protect vulnerable consumers and advance Ofgem and government’s decarbonisation goals. These roles offer an exciting opportunity to contribute towards addressing climate change and meeting the UK Government's Net Zero targets. We consider activities required to deliver new schemes and implement changes to current schemes. These roles will drive on policy issues and implementation of scheme legislative amendments, and future scheme development work as required. This includes liaising closely with internal delivery teams and key governmental stakeholders. We work in scheme policy to undertake tasks such as consulting stakeholders on relevant issues and changes, creating and updating guidance material, and updating the functionality of IT systems.

The essential criteria for this role is:

- Strong experience of analysing issues / problems, developing solutions, and the ability to present recommendations with considered trade-offs and risks to senior colleagues **(LEAD)**:

- Ability to build effective relationships and work collaboratively with a diverse range of stakeholders that creates space for constructive, open, and transparent engagement
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills that effectively communicate complex issues to non-expert audiences
- Excellent organisational and prioritisation skills, being able to manage different priorities and delivering against challenging deadlines

The desirable criteria for this role is:

- Good energy sector knowledge and demonstrable understanding of Ofgem and the consumer needs it serves.
- Sound knowledge of the Government’s climate change programme and the policy objectives of the current renewable support programmes
