**We are looking for a new Senior Policy Officer to join the Greater London Authority’s Housing Policy Team and to help tackle London’s housing crisis by delivering the Mayor’s priorities.**

This role will tackle a variety of housing issues. You’ll become an expert in your policy area and the solutions needed for London’s housing crisis to support senior colleagues across the Housing and Land directorate and the Mayor’s Office. You will be responsible for proactively managing both policy development and implementation, negotiating the trade-offs and complexities inherent in housing policy. You will draw on an ability to build and manage effective working relationships, as the role requires engagement with senior politicians, London boroughs, housing associations, central government departments, and community and voluntary sector groups. You will work in coordination with other GLA policy and delivery teams covering planning, regeneration, infrastructure, social policy and economic development.

**Principal Accountabilities**
- Lead on the development, review and evaluation of housing policies, and ensure the implementation of the Mayor’s policies and monitor their impact on London’s housing market and housing needs.
- As a leading expert in one or more major areas of housing policy, provide high level advice to the Mayor and his Policy Advisors.
- Keep abreast of national and local housing issues, legislation, research and good practice, and identify those most likely to impact upon the Mayor’s housing policies and his investment priorities.
- Research complex housing issues through the analysis and interpretation of data, policy information, research and legislation. Manage complex and multiple research, policy and delivery projects, including procuring and managing consultants.
- Draft briefings, presentations and reports on complex housing issues for the Mayor and his advisors, and respond to complex enquiries about the Mayor’s housing policies from Assembly members, MPs, other stakeholders and agencies, and Londoners.
- Establish and maintain effective lines of communication and positive working relationships with key internal GLA family and external stakeholders to ensure consistency across the Mayor’s policies and strategies; to disseminate the Mayor’s policies; and to promote cross-departmental and cross-organisational working.
- Manage resources allocated in accordance with the Authority’s policies and Code of Ethics and Standards.
