As a key member of the Academy’s close-knit international policy team, the senior European policy officer will lead and support the Head of International on our international policy activities within Europe and undertake follow up work to maximise the impact of previous European projects. The senior policy officer will work closely with the Head of International to develop and deliver activities that may include longer-term policy projects, and a range of scientific symposia, workshops, and lectures, to support our strategic objective to ‘work with our partners to increase the Academy’s impact on global health’. These activities will mainly be in partnership.

As a member of the Federation of European Academies of Medicine (FEAM), the senior European policy officer will act as our key contact with the network, identifying opportunities to contribute evidence and experts to its work. They will also identify opportunities to contribute to other networks and forums across the Europe where the Academy can provide expertise and have impact. They will use the information they collect and contacts that they develop to proactively inform the Academy’s staff and Council about key European issues and priorities that relate to the Academy’s work.

This is an exciting time to join the team as we begin to implement the Academy’s new ten-year Academy strategic plan. In addition to European policy activities, the senior policy officer may also contribute to the work of other teams in the Academy (particularly the wider international and policy team) to help work towards the Academy’s vision of ‘good health for all supported by the best research and evidence’.
