We are seeking a Purchasing Officer to work as part of our busy operations team in our office in Broomhill, Sheffield.

**What would you be doing?**

Working as a key part of the team, your typical activities will include but are not limited to:

- using suppliers’ price lists and online systems to find the correct product codes for ordering
- maintaining our supplier database which includes contacts, terms, customs costs, brand closure dates and warranties
- monitoring and tactical spending to achieve rebates, reduce transportation costs, and exploiting promotions
- supporting with customs clearance and duty queries
- ensuring the correct items are ordered in terms of product code, description, qty, cost
- checking order confirmations and challenge discrepancies in order confirmations in a methodical and articulate way (including transport costs in relation to terms)
- keeping the sales and operations teams up to date with lead times and any changes so they can update customers accordingly
- accurately updating purchase ledgers
- ensuring all trace documentation are received and filed correctly
- monitoring and maintaining stock levels and purchasing items accordingly
- identifying ways to reduce transportation costs from suppliers
- answering incoming calls and transferring to the relevant staff member
- covering for other team members when absent
- taking a proactive approach to ensure best practice is maintained and built upon on a daily basis

**Who are we looking for?**

**Essential**:

- superb accuracy and attention to detail to ensure the correct items and parts are ordered
- an intermediate level of competency on Microsoft Excel, familiar and comfortable with basic formulas and formatting
- competent using other Microsoft Office packages such as Outlook and Word
- the ability to process orders at a consistent and efficient speed
- an enthusiastic and quick learner
- organised with good time-management skills
- ability to prioritise orders and tasks according to importance
- the ability to work well with others from a range of different backgrounds, as part of an effective and close-knit team
- excellent communication skills, in particular good written and verbal English
- excellent administration skills
- a team player

**Desirable**:

- experience in a purchasing role or similar
