Hays are excited to be partnering with the Norfolk and Suffolk NHS Foundation Trust (NSFT) on a retained basis to find them a Director of HR and a Director of Culture and OD. NSFT provides mental health and learning disability care for people across Norfolkand Suffolk. The Trust supports a population of just over 1.6 million people and employs more than 4,700 staff across 50 locations.

These posts will play a significant role in their improvement journey and in setting the future direction of The Trust. This is certainly a poignant time to join NSFT, leading a workforce that has been at the forefront of Covid-19 and one that is currentlyin special measures following their latest Care Quality Commission (CQC) inspection. The trust leadership team are acting with a comprehensive improvement programme to bring about sustained improvement and to resolve failings in safety and understaffing. TheDirector of HR and the Director of Culture and OD will be at the heart of the cultural change agenda. This is an organisation with open arms, ready for change, ready for the right HR leadership.

**Your new role**

As their new Director of HR, you’ll work with the CPO and the Director of Culture and OD, who will also report to the CPO, to shape and deliver the people and culture agenda across the Trust. Part of two Integrated Care Boards (ICB) and as a member of theCulture and Remuneration Committee you’ll manage the budget for the HR service and be empowered to set the pace for the people strategy to ensure it reflects the overall Trust strategy and its key priorities.

You’ll have corporate responsibility for the HR function, managing and inspiring a team of more than 50 HR professionals across HR Business Partnering, HR resourcing (recruitment and medical staffing), Workforce Intelligence, Employee Relations, and HR operationsincluding the HR Helpline. You will be lead on all operational aspects of the HR function including providing expert employee relations and change management advice, championing responsive and efficient recruitment and talent development, and ensuring thatthe Trust retains a fair, transparent, and cost-effective pay, and reward strategy. Working in partnership with the Director of Culture and OD you’ll also help drive the cultural change agenda and coach managers to be the best versions of themselves embeddinginclusive leadership throughout the Trust.

This is undoubtedly a high-profile role. With your strong personal brand, you will also ensure the Trust remains connected and aligned with relevant clinical services priorities and challenges. Ensure engagement and influence within the local ICS and workforceprogrammes, representing the MH workforce and positive collaboration with partners to develop effective ways of working and future talent pipelines.

**What you'll need to succeed**

You’ll be a great leader with a clear passion for people Experienced in developing and implementing people and workforce strategies, you’ll have demonstrable experience of leading and providing a highly successful HR service in a large and complex organisation.Evidence of driving strategy, change and working with senior leadership and boards, you’ll most likely have a background within healthcare or a similarly regulated large public or private sector organisation. Having a good grasp of how to unite a diverse workforcewill be key, as is having a clear passion and appreciation for the mental health services which NSFT provides.

A true HR generalist with a track record of delivering in a similar role, you will have a considerable knowledge of HR operations, from employee relations knowledge and expertise through to the operational delivery that looks after the end-to-end employeelife cycle. You’ll be a compassionate leader, with a talent for motivating, influencing, and inspiring others. Committed to the continuous development of self, others, and the organisation, you’ll be comfortable coaching managers to be the best versions ofthemselves. Highly driven, goal oriented, and resilient you will be assertive in your decisions and act as a role model with demonstrable values-based behaviour. Be customer focused, analytical and solutions driven with a good eye for systems and process improvements.

You will also have a natural ability to establish trust and build effective and robust relationships and networks internally and externally. You’ll forge effective working relationships with Regional Trade Union stakeholders and senior HR colleagues acrossboth Integrated Care Systems and the NHS England and Improvement (NHSE/I) region.
