Mental Health in Schools Support Team (MHST)
Assistant Psychologist Band 5 - 1 Year Fixed-term
City & Hackney CAMHS are pleased to be recruiting to the role of Assistant Psychologist within the Mental Health Support Team. This is an exciting opportunity for those interested in pursing future training in clinical, educational or counselling psychology.
The Mental Health Support Team in City & Hackney, which commenced in 2019, aims to improve the mental health and wellbeing of children and young people in the community. There is a specific focus on developing more access to help and improving the general culture of emotional support within all primary and secondary schools including special educational provisions and PRU’s.
The post holder will build on the ongoing audit, service evaluation and quality improvement of the team and will be passionate about working with schools to support early prevention and intervention. There will be opportunities for the post holder to participate in clinical work, to hold a caseload and to work alongside Education Mental Health Practitioners and other experienced clinicians. Your colleagues will welcome your involvement in the rich variety of their work, which comprises a range of universal workshops and groups as well as group, family and individual interventions with the diverse client base in City and Hackney.
The post holder will work within the City & Hackney Mental Health Support in Schools team, which is part of the wider Specialist CAMHS. This team has a specific focus on early prevention and intervention within the school context involving both whole school, group and individual approaches.
The role will involve working across the NHS School teams; Well-being and Mental Health in Schools Service and MHST, supporting the administration of these teams and the communication of the offer in the borough. This will involve developing digital communications though our social media network, website and other digital platforms. The remit will also build on ongoing service evaluation and includes supporting engagement with children, young people and parents/carers.
In addition, there will be opportunities to participate in clinical work, working alongside Education Mental Health Practitioners and other experienced clinicians. Your colleagues will welcome your involvement in the rich variety of their work, which comprises a range of universal workshops and groups as well as group, family and individual interventions with the diverse client base in City and Hackney.
You will have good research and service evaluation skills, including knowledge and experience of Excel and SPSS.
We will provide an interesting and supportive work environment, with good training and supervision making this role an ideal opportunity for a new or existing Assistant Psychologist.
The post holder will also support the administrative and communications team in a variety of ways such as minute taking, and by developing the service’s digital and social media presence.
