As a psychology graduate with eligibility for graduate membership of the British Psychological Society, assistant psychologists have a number of important roles that enable more senior psychologists to focus on other clinical need and therefore increase the overall effectiveness and clinical capacity of the team. The post holder is responsible for supporting clinical provision of individual and group interventions, contribute to MDT assessments, as well as providing administrative and clinical support to the team. This will include database entry and management, letter and report writing, development of resources and service evaluation and audit. Previous experience as an assistant psychologist (or comparable role) is essential.

**Responsibilities**:
Clinical

To be involved in the assessment, formulation and intervention offered to children and young people referred to the service. This will include demonstrable skills in multi-disciplinary working, individual case management and working across a range of contexts (home visits, school liaison).

When required, to attend referrals triage meeting and to contribute to decisions around eligibility of referrals for the service.

To facilitate regular caseload review meetings for the team and to keep accurate records of MDT care plans following clinic.

To actively participate in MDT assessments.

To co-facilitate groups for children, young people and their parents, eligible for the service.

To work within a psychologically based framework of understanding and care to enhance the quality of care to individuals, carers and families under the service.

To help develop clinical resources for use by individuals seen within each of the services.

To assist with organising and facilitating clinical groups and workshops for children, young people and parents receiving care from the team. This will include taking a lead on the recruitment into the workshops, collecting/managing outcome data and developing resources to support these groups.

To support clinical work (triaging, assessments and interventions) carried out within the service.

To assist in the preparation of clinical reports under the supervision of supervising Clinical/Educational Psychologist.

To participate in Community Department activities and meetings and to attend conferences and external meetings as appropriate.

To comply with all relevant Trust policies, procedures and guidelines, including those relating to Equal Opportunities, Health and Safety and Confidentiality of Information and to be aware of any changes in these

To regularly monitor, review and feedback outcomes to support service improvements under the direction of the supervising Clinical/Educational Psychologist in the Service.

Communicate and liaise with other professionals within the team and to work in partnership with parents/carers and other agencies in order to develop good health care for service users

Teaching, Training and Supervision

To provide support and contribute to the supervision of undergraduate student psychologists on placement within the Directorate.

To contribute to teaching/education activities for a range of audiences including professionals and parents.
