BACKGROUND OF POST The principal objective of the Brandon Centre, since it was founded in 1969, is to maintain and develop an accessible and flexible professional service in response to the psychological and social problems of young people aged under 25 years to relieve distress, mobilise personal resources, and facilitate growth in adolescents towards responsibility and self-fulfilment.
The Brandon Centre's service extends to support young people presenting with a range of difficulties and is based on a psychoanalytic developmental model of adolescence. The work of the Centre covers: 1. Direct work with young people and families: Individual psychotherapy for young people Systemic Integrative Treatment (SIT) Parenting training groups Outreach work with young people and families Social prescribing 2. Consultation and training for professionals who work with young people D.
**PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES General**: - To treat all clients in a sensitive and non-judgmental manner. - To maintain confidentiality in accordance with national, local and Brandon Centre policies, with specific consideration to those under the age of 16 years. Supervisory duties - In common with all clinical psychologists and assistant psychologists, to receive regular clinical supervision in accordance with professional practice guidelines. - Assisting with the induction of new staff members to familiarise them with counselling and psychotherapy day-to-day procedures and administration.
- The Senior Assistant Psychologist may also supervise more junior Assistant Psychologists or Honorary Assistant Psychologists. Service User Participation duties - To build on the existing youth participation work (Youth Ambassadors) at Brandon Centre and to collaboratively develop, lead and grow this important area of our work. - This will involve working with young people to co-produce projects for young people connected to Brandon Centre. - Coordinating participation work to improve and develop the service.
This would include running feedback workshops/surveys, consultation groups, and participating in interviews of new staff members. - Working with other key members of staff across all departments to identify and recruit youth ambassadors. - To provide support to Youth Ambassadors engaging in different activities and to signpost or refer to appropriate services if a greater level of support is required. - To liaise with the finance department to ensure that Youth Ambassadors are appropriately remunerated for the work they do in developing and improving the service.
Monthly submissions of the Mental Health Service Data Set (MHSDS) Preparing and producing service data reports required by commissioners, the Board of Trustees and senior Service Leads as required. Attending meetings and workshops relating to the collection and reporting of outcome measures on service and national levels. Keeping up to date with current NHS guidance and requirements for the Mental Health Service Data Set. Working with the clinical leads to ensure that clinicians and other staff are adhering to monitoring and outcome requirements.
Business Development Support Supporting the development of proposals for grants or new NHS / local authority business, including helping with bid writing, developing evaluation frameworks, supplying relevant data, and participating in / helping with presentations. Service Evaluation To conduct audits on different aspects of the service using our existing records. Audit examples may include collating particular data that we do not routinely report on. Clinical Participation in weekly clinical meetings and peer supervision Using clinical skills to support young people in completing outcome measures where more support might be needed.
Administration Support the Centre and Referrals Coordinator with administrative tasks as required, which may include checking the Counselling inbox and forwarding messages when required, taking meeting minutes, and supporting with correspondence with other professionals. Other There may also be other opportunities to be involved in new projects, clinical work and training opportunities as they come up if agreed with your Line Manager. Any other duties which are commensurate with the post. Responsibility for Policy and Service Development Proactively participate in one-to-one meetings with line manager, identifying own learning needs, and ways that these may be met.
Communicate issues of concern relating to the behaviour, conduct or practice of colleagues to the director as appropriate. Report untoward incidents and any other relevant information to a clinician, operations manager or director and complete an incident report if necessary.
