Accounts Payable Assistant

**The role**
We are currently recruiting for a Accounts Payable (AP) Assistant to join our Group Finance team based at our Head Office in Bristol.
We have invested significantly in new systems and processes across the business, in particular within the finance function. We are firm believers in using the right technology to drive process improvements and efficiencies to help us grow.
We are looking for a collaborative and pro-active individual to work within the payments team. You should be highly organised with your approach and have great attention to detail. Whilst your attitude and approach are what will make you stand out for this role, a basic knowledge of accounting principles would be highly beneficial, as would prior experience in a payable function.

Other key tasks in this role will include:
- Monitoring and addressing queries into the shared AP inbox
- Answering phone calls into the AP department
- Reconciliation of supplier statements to the AP ledgers
- Creation of payment runs within the accounting software (NetSuite)
- Bank account reconciliation
- Creation of payments on banking portal
- Liaising with branches and suppliers to resolve any issues
- Escalation as required of any issues to supervisor
- Development of relationships with branch staff and operational team members
We are open Monday to Friday 9am - 5.30pm. There is no standard weekend working as we believe quality of life and balance is incredibly important. Due to the nature of our work the majority of the team work from the office but you will have the ability to work from home on occasion should this be needed. We have a really friendly, professional and collaborative and our people love being in the office as much as they can.
**What you’ll be able to offer**
- Previous AP experience is beneficial, along with basic accounting knowledge
- Experience of working in an office environment essential and ideally within a finance related role
- Netsuite experience would be desirable
- Experience of working with a cloud based finance system essential
- GCSE grade 4 or above in Maths essential
- Excel skills to include basic filters, formulas, and pivot tables
- Outlook skills to include basic functions
- Outstanding communication and customer service skills
- The ability to develop and build strong and personable relationships over the phone and in person with a broad range of individuals
- The ability to work in a fast-paced environment and be a strong team player
- Accountability to yourself and others
- Extremely organised with a high attention to detail and accuracy
- Ability to work well under pressure and able to work to tight deadlines
- High IT literacy skills and competence with Microsoft office packages
- An open and honest approach to all things
- Flexibility and an ability to adapt to change
- A sense of humour
