Our department of Education are looking for someone who is able to undertake administrative procedures associated with the admission and transfer of pupils into and between Luton schools, ensuring at all time that legislative and policy requirements are met and procedures are administered to timescale.

You will be expected to carry out the administrative arrangements associated with admitting children to schools in Luton, this will involve receiving and verifying information, maintaining databases and records and despatching correspondence as required as well as carrying out annual transfer arrangements between infant to junior and junior to high schools including:

- Obtaining information from feeder schools regarding pupils due to transfer
- Preparation of letters
- Liaison with head teachers regarding dates of open evenings
- Arrangements for the publication of such dates in the local press
- Distribution of letters and admission guides for parents
- Receipt of parental request forms and allocation of places in accordance with either the Council’s admission criteria or those adopted by individual schools.

**About you**:
We are looking for someone who is able to deal politely and tactfully with a whole range of people who may be angry and frustrated on the telephone or face to face - including Council Members, Senior Management, Head teachers and parents.

You’ll have the opportunity to develop on your existing skills by being able to work within established policy and procedure as well as being able to work under pressure and meet conflicting work demands and deadlines.

We do ask that you are able to demonstrate an understanding of the effects of discrimination on service delivery.

Applicants for this role will need to be able to respond to complex queries and complaints in writing as well as be able to assimilate complex information rapidly and communicate this to others.
