**Role Overview**

The Head of Fleet is responsible for commercial and operational management & maintenance of Mitie's fleet. This includes overseeing the acquisition, utilisation, maintenance, repair and disposal of the fleet to ensure Mitie's operational needs are compliant, within budget and supports environmental targets as detailed within Plan Zero. They are responsible for creating strategies to improve fleet's performance and contribute to the organisation's overall commercial and operational success.

The role holder must possess strong leadership, analytical, and communication skills, a solid understanding of fleet management principles, relevant regulations, and industry best practices.

**Key Responsibilities**

**Fleet management**:

- Monitor the overall performance of Mitie's fleet and implement necessary improvements to maximise efficiencies and cost-effectiveness.
- Develop and implement fleet management strategies, policies, and procedures for the acquisition, utilisation, maintenance, and disposal of vehicles.
- Ensure all vehicles are utilised effectively and efficiently to support the organisation's operational needs.
- Develop and implement preventative maintenance programs to minimise cost and vehicle downtime.

**Commercial management**:

- Manage the annual fleet budget delivering agreed AOP targets, ensuring all income delivery is HMRC compliant, whilst identifying ongoing opportunities for commercial benefits.
- Negotiate contracts and agreements with suppliers, working closely with Legal & Finance stakeholders.
- Manage end to end tender processes encompassing market analysis and supplier selection.
- Manage key suppliers via Mitie's Supplier Management Framework.
- Prepare financial reports and update senior management on fleet performance within agreed parameters,
- Ensure relevant finance systems are regularly updated and shared with Finance Business Partners.

**Compliance and safety**:

- Ensure compliance with legal and regulatory requirements relating to fleet operations, including licensing, registration, tax, maintenance, and roadworthiness.
- Work with QHSE to implement and manage fleet safety programmes to promote the safety and well-being of Mitie's drivers and other road users.
- Work with BU stakeholders to embed an environment of driver accountability (Operational and commercial)

**Team management**:

- Lead, manage, and mentor the Fleet team, promoting a collaborative and goal-oriented culture.
- Conduct regular performance evaluations and support the ongoing professional development of the team.
- Ensure all team members have development plans in place, as per the guidelines of the Skills Wheel toolkit.
- Continually review output and responsibilities, ensuring the team's collective output is at optimal efficiency to provide an excellent standard of service Mitie end users.

**Skills and Experience**
- Proven experience in a similar role (desirable not essential).
- In-depth knowledge of automotive industry trends.
- Strong organisational and planning skills, with the ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines.
- Excellent negotiation and supplier management skills.
- Knowledge of relevant legal and regulatory requirements, including MOT, vehicle licensing, and taxation.
- Good understanding of environmental and sustainability initiatives relevant to fleet management.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build and maintain relationships across all levels of the organisation.
- Financial acumen and budget management skills.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office and industry-specific software, such as fleet management systems.
