The Role

This is an exciting opportunity for an enthusiastic and highly motivated Post-Doctoral Research Associate in epidemiology, population health sciences or a related discipline with strong quantitative skills to contribute to an innovative study of ageing across the adult life course.

The postholder will join an interdisciplinary team focused on improving lives through world-class research in ageing, sarcopenia and multiple long-term conditions. The postholder will be supervised by Rachel Cooper, newly appointed McArdle Chair in Ageing and Professor of Translational Epidemiology, and will be based in the AGE Research Group, which is led by Professor Avan Aihie Sayer, Director of the NIHR Newcastle Biomedical Research Centre.

The postholder will contribute to the day-to-day running of our study, MASS Lifecourse, through involvement in an ongoing data collection and data management, and be responsible for developing new epidemiological research on ageing across the life course using data from this deep-phenotyped study. They will also conduct data analysis (including secondary analyses of complementary data from large population-based studies) and disseminate research findings through publication and conference attendance.

The project will be closely aligned with the aims of the newly funded Ageing, Sarcopenia and Multimorbidity theme within the NIHR Newcastle Biomedical Research Centre and the postholder will benefit from close collaborative working with other colleagues who contribute to this BRC theme.

This full-time post is fixed term for a period of 2 years.
