**Job summary**:
The post holder will the manage CRF Laboratory specimen reception. On a daily they will ensure samples are booked in correctly and processed by the laboratory staff in a timely manner. They will be responsible for drawing up the weekly schedule this will include booking couriers, ensuring shipping boxes containing dried ice are ordered then shipped correctly.

Applicants should be educated to GCSE standard or equivalent in English Language and Mathematics and possess excellent numeracy and written/verbal communication skills. Demonstrable experience of Microsoft packages, especially Microsoft Excel is required.

**Main duties, tasks & skills required**:
Key duties

To manage and organise the Laboratory team electronic schedule -scheduling appointments and coordinating annual leave in conjunction with the lab manger.

Take responsibility for monitoring the laboratory bookings and ensure that the scheduling database (CRFManager) is updated with new bookings on a daily basis.

To receive, sign and document for incoming goods such as dry ice or study kits/consumables.

To report and document any instance or event which may cause a service delivery failure e.g. mislabelled, unlabelled or missing specimens and the rejection of unsuitable samples.

Assist with telephone or nurses enquiries in a timely manner.

To assist in the continuous monitoring system (Tutela) and report to technicians / managers as appropriate, to include completing morning and evening routine departmental checks.

Regularly liaising with the Laboratory Manager / Senior Technician to ensure priorities are met dependent upon departmental workload.

To arrange requests with Estates, Medical Engineering and external engineers for repairs to laboratory equipment.

To order laboratory items as required and / or organise the ad-hoc ordering of specialist items of equipment for the laboratory team as required.

Design and create miscellaneous documentation using own initiative or under direction of Laboratory Manager.
