Cancer Services are looking for a highly motivated and enthusiastic individual to join them in supporting the Trust in achieving and sustaining the cancer targets. This is an exciting role within the Trust that will make a real difference to cancer patients on their pathway through referral, diagnosis and treatment. Excellent organisation skills will also be required to ensure that patients are tracked, and their progress monitored along their pathway using hospital computerised data and tracking systems.
Computer skills are essential and training will be given on hospital administration systems.

To be fully conversant with patient pathways across site specific tumour groups to ensure that patients are treated equitably, reaching targets for first appointments, diagnostic tests and treatment within relevant times scales.

To liaise with MDT coordinators and across the Trust to monitor the coordination of all elements of the patient pathway. This may include highlighting patient target dates to ensure that investigations are carried out in a timely manner.

To work closely with clinicians, specialist nurses, secretaries and all members of the Multi-Disciplinary Team (MDT) across all specialties to ensure that suspected and diagnosed cancer patients are actively managed through patient pathways.

To ensure that appropriate requests for investigations are managed in a timely fashion. If diagnostic delays occur or appear imminent it is the responsibility of the post holder to escalate to the relevant manager.

To be aware of staff and events which may impact on the patient pathway and escalate as appropriate.

To inform the MDT coordinators and the MDT Manager of any potential delays or breaches of the waiting time targets according to Trust escalation policy.

To provide support to the team to ensure continuous development, implementation and monitoring of changes to the patient pathway

To maintain up to date knowledge of all targets and processes relating to the Cancer Reform Strategy and to be a point of reference within the department for the Cancer Services team.
