**Role Purpose**
Strategic and professional leadership of reactive and proactive media management; digital communications and engagement; marketing and events; internal communications and staff engagement providing guidance and support for change programmes impacting members of the public and/or staff; develop and deliver communications and engagement training, in line with the corporate communications strategy.

Accountable for providing strategic advice and guidance to the Chief Constable, Deputy Chief Constable, Assistant Chief
Constable and other members of the executive team and senior leaders across the force. This will cover the full range of communication issues locally, nationally and internationally, as well as across sectors.
**Role Specific Tasks**
1. To develop and deliver the force communication strategy (adopting contemporary best practice) with clear milestones to measure and evaluate its success annually.
2. Lead and manage the corporate communication team and all allocated corporate communications portfolio assets, activities, facilities, services and resources, including the provision of expert advice, guidance, interpretation and support to executive, managers and senior stakeholders - this will be in support of corporate decision-making and activity.

3. To act as advisor to chief officers, other departmental leads and where requested external partners, on matters relating to communication and engagement - working with them to support their aims, objectives and priorities, identifying areas of reputational risk and planning mitigations to these in response whether in relation to an ongoing incident, investigation or change communications strategy.

4. To ensure a 24/7 on-call provision is available taking due care to support the wellbeing of rota participants.
5. To work closely with the Head of People & Organisation Development to develop and deliver a contemporary internal communications and engagement programme to promote a safe and inclusive culture and a highly engaged workforce.
6. To provide corporate branding guidance to enable colleagues to communicate and engage effectively with the public, internal and external customers and stakeholders.
7. To develop a digital communications strategy that informs senior leaders, peers and colleagues on optimum methods to engage with the public, stakeholders and staff including guidance to enable them to proactively engage on social media platforms, e.g. for recruitment campaigns and neighbourhood policing purposes.

8. Ensure that all data and information for corporate communications is maintained and managed in accordance with good practice in respect of its confidentiality, availability and integrity, and that appropriate contingency arrangements are in place regarding service delivery and business continuity.

9. To ensure that all corporate communications activity is aligned to local, regional and national visions for the development of policing, is legally compliant and in accordance with the College of Policing approved professional practice on media engagement.

10. Represent Dyfed-Powys Police at meetings and groups, both internally and externally, including the development of appropriate and constructive partnerships with relevant organisations that enhance the service.

17. To be responsible for employee conduct, performance and attendance matters in adherence to force policy.
18. To be overall accountable for resources and financial spend within their function.
19. To ensure succession planning, development of staff and talent management is undertaken.
