Carmarthenshire Association of Voluntary Services (CAVS) is an independent charity and the umbrella body for the third sector in Carmarthenshire.

CAVS provides information, guidance and support to organisations and community groups, enabling them to become sustainable and effective.

**Introduction**

Job Title: Third Sector Services Officer

Reports To: Chief Officer

Contract: Permanent

Hours of Work: Full-time (37 hours per week)

**Salary**: £27,852 per annum

Annual Leave: 24 days per year + bank holidays

Pension: CAVS employees are automatically enrolled in the NEST Workplace Pension Scheme, but you may choose to opt out. Employees who wish to join the scheme have to contribute a sum which is then enhanced with a company contribution

Method of Pay: Salaries are paid directly into the staff member’s nominated bank account on the 20thof each month

Place of Work: CAVS, 18 Queen Street, Carmarthen SA31 1JT and with communities across Carmarthenshire

Travel: 45p per mile for approved business travel

EAP: CAVS offers staff the Health Assured Employee Assistance Programme (EAP)

- **Main purpose of the role**_

To provide a Development and Engagement lead within CAVS, including providing direct support to third sector organisations, strengthening overall third sector support in Carmarthenshire.
- **Specific Responsibilities**:_
- **Delivery**_

This will include:

- Supporting third sector organisations in Carmarthenshire to find innovative and collaborative ways of financially supporting their activities.
- Providing support/advice on a range of governance issues to Management Committees, Trustee Boards and paid officers.
- Identifying training needs for third sector organisations, developing and delivering opportunities, as appropriate.
- Supporting and training third sector representatives to enable them to engage effectively with public service planning groups as required.
- Representing the third sector on public service joint planning teams and other relevant working groups as appropriate.
- Maintaining professional standards and adhering to the required standards of monitoring, administration and record keeping.
- Contributing to the delivery and planning of an effective, innovative and comprehensive third sector support service.
- Establishing and maintaining relationships with key contacts, individuals and organisations.
- Promoting the services of CAVS and maintaining a working knowledge of the full range of services provided.
- **Contributing to the development of the organisation**_
- Supporting the continuous development of the organisation, helping it to achieve a high standard of performance and adapt appropriately to change.
- Identifying and accessing possible funding sources for the organisation.
- Participating in the administration of CAVS Membership Scheme.

- CAVS is an umbrella organisation supporting the Third Sector in Carmarthenshire, as well as offering membership benefits. Staff are required to carry out their duties to support and promote this ethos, including adopting a positive attitude and approach to their post, as well as a team building approach.

**Person Specification**
- Experience of providing governance and funding support to organisations, including organisational development, business planning and income generation, together with having an understanding and working knowledge of funding streams.
- An understanding and knowledge of the role of the third sector in planning and providing public services.
- Experience of facilitating meetings and networks.
- An ability to work on own initiative and adapt work plans at short notice to meet any unexpected needs.
- Highly organised working methods with an ability to prepare clear and concise reports and summaries.
