An opportunity has arisen for a Head of Corporate Governance to provide specialist knowledge, advice and leadership in all aspects of corporate governance statutory and mandatory requirements at Hywel Dda University Health Board.

The post holder will be responsible for the day-to-day line management of the Corporate Governance team, as well as deputise for the Assistant Director of Assurance and Risk in respect of corporate governance matters, when required.

The post holder will be responsible for the ongoing development, design and implementation of a corporate governance framework for Hywel Dda University Health Board.

The post holder will be responsible for the effective running of our Board and committees in line with our Constitution and Standing Orders. This will involve working with committee chairs and lead officers on agenda setting and ensuring there are arrangements in place for forward planning; development of Board and committee business cycles, supporting and servicing formal meetings, provision of digital board management software and maintaining action/decision logs. This will also include ensuring the regular review and evaluation of Board and Committees, oversight of the design and delivery of a comprehensive, on-going development programme for Board/Committee/Advisory Group members, there is an effective system in place to manage Independent Member appointments and a programme of Independent Member appraisals.

The postholder will be responsible for providing expert advice on all corporate governance related matters, ensuring the reputation of the Health Board is enhanced by providing a good governance culture throughout the organisation. Their day-to-day remit will see them working closely with both corporate and operational directorates and services in the delivery of their functions which will involve providing highly specialist governance and management support to formal committees and groups.

Hywel Dda University Health Board is the planner and provider of NHS healthcare services for people in Carmarthenshire, Ceredigion, Pembrokeshire and its bordering counties. Our 11,000 members of staff provide primary, community, in-hospital, mental health and learning disabilities services for around 384,000 people across a quarter of the landmass of Wales. We do this in partnership with our three local authorities and public, private and third sector colleagues, including our volunteers, through:
**Four main hospitals**: Bronglais General in Aberystwyth, Glangwili General in Carmarthen, Prince Philip in Llanelli and Withybush General in Haverfordwest;
**Seven community hospitals**: Amman Valley and Llandovery in Carmarthenshire; Tregaron, Aberaeron and Cardigan in Ceredigion; and Tenby and South Pembrokeshire Hospital Health and Social Care Resource Centre in Pembrokeshire;
48 general practices (four of which are managed practices), 47 dental practices (including three orthodontic), 99 community pharmacies, 44 general ophthalmic practices (43 providing Eye Health Examination Wales and 34 low vision services) and 17 domiciliary only providers and 11 health centres;
Numerous locations providing mental health and learning disabilities services;
Highly specialised and tertiary services commissioned by the Welsh Health Specialised Services Committee, a joint committee representing seven health boards across Wales.
