Youth Justice Family Support Worker (Education, Employment and Training/Restorative Practice Worker) to be located at either Peter Webster Centre, Chesterfield or Mercian Close, Ilkeston - hybrid working.

Derbyshire Youth Justice Service works with young people aged 10-17 on both court orders and out of court disposals. We operate under a trauma informed approach. We had a HMIP inspection in June 2022 with an outcome of good and now want to further develop our service offer to children at risk of offending. Our culture is enshrined in our mission statement: "Child First in everything we say, do and write. We build on the strengths of children, families, and communities to achieve their potential and in turn, protect the public and victims. We never give up on our children and young people".

The role is a permanent post covering the Amber Valley and Northeast Derbyshire areas. The role is a dual role working with children and young people to ensure they are participating in education training and employment and to work with victims to ensure their views are captured.

**What will I be doing**:
**Education, Training and Employment**

To achieve this you will provide universal support for children and young people to achieve their full potential in learning and work to include:
- Removing barriers to ETE
- Preparing and supporting young people to access and engage in ETE
- Sourcing suitable ETE opportunities
- Establish and maintain links with external ETE providers within Derbyshire
- Liaison with other agencies within Derbyshire County Council (DCC) to ensure young people of school age receive the statutory 25 hours of education and their special educational needs are being met.

You will also monitor the ETE status of all young people receiving interventions with the Youth Justice Service and ensure accurate returns are compiled and sent to the Youth Justice Board (YJB) as part of regular performance data returns.

**Restorative Practice**
- contact victims and allow them to make informed choices about involvement in restorative processes with the child or young person
- Capture their views on what has happened to them and the impact on them
- Advocate for victims in meetings
- keeping victims who participate in restorative justice informed about case progress
- storing victims’ information
