**Post: Trust Head of Human Resources**
**Salary/Grade**:Grade 11 SCP 31-34 £45,416 - £48,706
**Responsible to**:Chief Operating Officer
**Hours**:Full Time, 36 hours per week, Full Year
Main purpose of the post:
1. To provide a professional HR service to Trustees, senior leaders, employees and governors across the Trust.
2. Responsible for managing the HR department across the Trust to provide pragmatic, creative and education focused HR solutions and recommendations across the Trust. Including overseeing the HR and Payroll system.
3. To build and develop relationships with staff at all levels across the Trust to provide support, guidance and challenge where appropriate on all HR related matters.
4. To ensure that the Trust meets all of its obligations with regards to employment law and related compliance.
5. To develop, lead, communicate and deliver a HR workforce plan for the Trust, ensuring all HR operational activities link back to the Trust’s strategic plan
**Main duties**:
1. To be responsible for providing an efficient, effective and customer focused HR service that supports all aspects of transactional HR including employee lifecycle, recruitment, on-boarding conditions of employment, training and development activities, ensuring compliance with employment
2. Engage in promoting the values and ethos of the Trust, personally exhibiting the qualities that the Trust would like to see in all of our leaders by being innovative, proactive, committed and positive.
3. Build effective working relationships with colleagues, employees, the Leadership team, governors, trade unions and external parties.
4. To build effective relationships with managers at all levels across the Trust and develop a good understanding of their work so as to be able to offer solutions that are education focused and put the student at the heart of all decisions
5. In collaboration with the Leadership Team across the Trust, ensure effective monitoring of sickness trends and remedial action in accordance with the Trust policy and to facilitate a proactive approach to absence management to ensure a smooth return to work
6. Support managers to drive performance across the Trust in order deliver the highest possible levels of teaching and learning
7. Recruitment and Retention - drive the process to acquire and retain the best talent for the Trust
8. Take responsibility for the implementation of all HR policies and ensure that all HR issues are dealt with within the relevant legislation and timescales and provide advice and guidance on a range of HR policies and HR-related issues to support understanding and ensure effective communication of good HR practice
9. Support the development of strong communication and feedback channels with all staff and through a variety of mechanisms to support employee engagement
10. Ensure all HR records are accurate and up to date and provide accurate and timely reports as and when required
11. Actively seek and identify opportunities to enhance delivery of HR services to the Trust
12. Improve management skills across the Trust through coaching and mentoring and active participation in problem-solving and casework
13. To be responsible for and lead on staffing restructures across the Trust, ensuring that the restructures are legally compliant and in line with Trust policy
14. Work closely with the payroll provider and finance team to ensure payroll changes are completed in line with the payment processing schedule each month
15. Line management of the HR team across the Trust
16. Attend JCC meetings on a termly basis
17. Oversee the probation and appraisal process ensuring documents are completed in a timely manner and are kept up to date.
18. Keep up to date with pay and conditions relevant to teachers and support staff.
19. To coordinate and supervise implementation of grievance, disciplinary and capability processes, welfare, absences assessments and policy implementation
20. Lead on the Gender Pay report and oversee the completion of the School Workforce Census data
21. Oversee compliance with all safer recruitment requirement checks in line with KCSIE
22. Ensure the Single Central Record is compliant across the Trust
23. Responsible for ensuring all contractual changes are processed in a timely matter
**Safeguarding**
1. Commit to safeguarding and protecting the welfare of children and young people by ensuring effective implementation of the safeguarding policy and procedures and the Prevent Strategy
2. Conduct monthly checks of the software system and review the Single Central Record to ensure all necessary pre-employment checks are complete, including reference and DBS check/risk assessment in accordance with the recruitment and selection policy and procedures
3. Attend the Safeguarding Group meetings and contribute to the maintenance and development of robust and effective safeguarding procedures across the Trust
