The purpose of this role is to provide an organisation wide strategic lead on behalf of the Chief Nurse, to ensure that the organisation meets its obligations under the Children Act 2004, Mental Capacity Act, 2005 and Care Act 2014 and other relevant legislation and guidance in order to ensure that the Trust provides safe, effective, and well led services, in line with our values which safeguard people at risk. The Head of Integrated Safeguarding is responsible for the leadership and day-to-day running of the Safeguarding Function, alongside ensuring key organisational and strategic objectives are met within the Mental Health, Dementia, Learning Disabilities, Autism and Neurodiversity specialist areas. The post holder is responsible for ensuring that structures, systems, and processes across all services are in place so that safeguarding activity is actively coordinated across the Trust ensuring appropriate use of available resources and that the required operational and quality safeguarding standards are achieved. The Head of Integrated Safeguarding will provide senior leadership within the Integrated Safeguarding team through the line management of the Named Nurses, Named Midwife and Lead Nurses and work across the multi-professional team to create a culture of continuous improvement within all areas of Safeguarding, Learning Disability, Mental Health, Autism and Dementia portfolio.

You will be required to work outside of the portfolio as required to meet the needs of the service and contributing to the overall move to providing outstanding care with compassion. The post holder will model a safeguarding culture across the Trust that clearly conveys that safeguarding is our everyday business. The Head of Integrated Safeguarding will work collaboratively with our partner agencies and contribute to Tameside Adult and Children Safeguarding Boards. Working with the Named Nurses, Midwife and Doctors, the post holder will use excellent leadership skills to ensure that the safeguarding agenda is delivered consistently across the Trust.

Ensure appropriate safeguarding team participation and contribution to investigations into serious incidents and other incidents that may have safeguarding implications Work in close partnership with the Named Professionals across adults and childrens safeguarding To lead and co-ordinate the Trust safeguarding meetings, ensuring the safeguarding committee is fully informed about both agendas and issues arising from these. Actively link with wider groups and committees to ensure promotion of the safeguarding Ensure provision of expert safeguarding supervision to all staff across the Trust in line with best practice. Provide direct and indirect advice on the assessment and interventions for neglect, emotional and physical abuse, Fabricated or Induced Illness (FII), child sexual abuse, Domestic Violence and Abuse, honour-based violence, Female Genital Mutilation (FGM), trafficking, sexual exploitation, detention and the prevent Ensure safeguarding supervision and support for all staff in relation to adult abuse Ensure the provision of mandatory training for adults and children according to national guidance and appropriate to Ensure delivery of the Mental Capacity Act and Mental Health Act in practice and training, and that principles are applied and embedded in Actively deliver and participate in single and multi-agency training Produce and monitor a safeguarding annual work Author or supervise Individual Management Reviews for Serious Case Reviews for children and act as panel member for the Produce, implement, and report on action plans from Safeguarding and Domestic Homicide Case Reviews Co-ordinate and monitor the organisations Mental Capacity Act/Deprivation of Liberty Produce reports including an annual report to the Board, Local Safeguarding Adult and Childrens Boards / Partnerships and other forums concerned with assurance and learning as Ensure systems are in place for effective communicating and information sharing for safeguarding between partnership organisations and Ensure the PREVENT agenda is delivered within the Responsibility for the audit of policies and develop and revise Trust policies, guidance, and standard operational procedures Attend and deputise for the chair at Trust safeguarding meetings. Deputising for the Deputy Chief Nurse and Chief Nurse as necessary within the safeguarding Ensure key actions are communicated back to the relevant lead.
