Overview

Established in 1884, Bangor University has a continuing tradition of academic excellent, both in terms of its teaching and its research. Today, Bangor University has approximately 7,000 full-time students and 3,000 part-time students supported by 2,400 members of staff, with approximately 45% of students coming from Wales, 49% from the rest of the UK and Europe, and 6 % from the rest of the world, from as many as 69 countries. 18% of our students are studying for postgraduate degrees.

The Project

The School of Educational Sciences offers a wide range of academic courses, including undergraduate and postgraduate ITE courses, part-time and full-time undergraduate BA and BSc programmes, a range of part-time and full time Masters courses (including the Masters in Applied Behaviour Analysis), full-time and part-time Education Doctorate courses (EdD, ProfDoc) full-time and part-time MRes and MPhil programmes and full-time and part-time PhD programme.

The School is renowned for its both Welsh-medium and English medium provision, whereby undergraduate students are able to study for their degrees through the medium of Welsh or English. Bangor University is a bilingual organisation and all members of staff are expected to work positively in this bilingual environment.

Research submitted by Bangor University’s School of Education contributed positively to the University’s success in the 2014 Research Excellence Framework for the Modern Languages and Linguistics Unit of Assessment. The Unit was recognised as being joint 2nd in the UK for impact, with more than two-thirds of the research outputs rated as either world-leading or internationally excellent. 90% of the research case studies submitted were rated as having world-leading impact, with the remaining 10% having excellent impact at an international level.

Recently we established the CIEREI Education Research institute that is a strategic partnership between Bangor University, GwE (the regional School improvement Agency for North Wales, and our regional Schools. The aim of CIEREI is build a world class research community in North Wales.

Purpose of the Job

The role holder will join the BCBA Behavioural Science team in the School of Educational Science. They will support delivery of core curriculum as well as delivering future developments and innovations to the programme, including advances in teaching and research excellence within education.

The purpose of the job includes:

- To teach at undergraduate and postgraduate levels, including supervision of projects and students.- To develop teaching materials or methodologies, for example course design or assessment and being module coordinator or contribute to module co-ordination.- To conduct and publish research in the field of education.- To provide pastoral and academic support to undergraduate and postgraduate students.- To strengthen the existing links between our research activity and the local community and within our HEI-schools partnership.- To undertake administrative duties as designated by the Head of School.Main

**Responsibilities**:
Teaching duties will include:
Design and manage online modules to enable students to fulfill requirements for professional certification.

Support the Course Director with admissions, recruitment, and marketing.

Support supervision of students on clinical placement with online tutorials.

Plan, prepare and deliver lectures and tutorials, responding effectively to a variety of student backgrounds, learning styles and class sizes.

Motivate students to proactive engagement in learning, and provide meaningful and constructive feedback on the quality of their work.

Keep abreast of new professional, educational and related social, economic and technological developments.

Take a full role in the assessment of students, both academically
