We are seeking a Lecturer in Special Educational Needs to join our team at Thornton College. As a Lecturer in Special Educational Needs, you will collaborate with our team of teachers to deliver high-quality teaching, learning, and assessment across all groupings at Thornton, ensuring successful learner outcomes and maximising every student's potential to progress to their chosen/intended destination.

**Key Responsibilities & Tasks**:
**Main Responsibilities**:

- Teach students enrolled in various groups at Thornton as assigned by your line manager.
- Collaborate with guardians, internal and multi-agency teams to ensure learners are making good progress and implement appropriate intervention when necessary.
- Record and evidence learners making good progress throughout the year through RARPA quality cycles and associated documentation.
- Consider and utilise assistive technology across the program to increase learners' independence.
- Implement appropriate feedback and assessment systems to accurately check learning, adapting teaching as required to ensure individualised learner progress.
- Manage courses or parts of courses as required, including administration and organisation.
- Contribute to curriculum innovation, development, and implementation to improve standards and benefit learner experience and progression.
- Maintain a professional learning environment in the classroom, consistently implementing the College’s behaviour management processes as required.
- Maintain and update teaching expertise and skills to continually develop your teaching practice and deliver the best outcomes for learners.

**Main Tasks**:
Teaching and Assessment
- Deliver teaching and learning that motivates and inspires learners to achieve, creating curriculum intent documentation and schemes of learning in line with the College standards.
- Develop assessments and mark students’ work in accordance with College policy, providing clear, direct, and constructive verbal and written feedback that addresses misconceptions and enables students to embed and develop their knowledge and skills.
- Supervise practical activities, workshops, and work placements as appropriate.
- Use technology, including the college’s virtual learning environment effectively to enable independent learning at any time or place.
- Develop and use high-quality resources and teaching materials which meet course frameworks and learning outcomes.
- Embed career-related employability skills through high-quality teaching and learning to support progression.

**Essential Criteria**:

- Knowledge and experience working with young people with SEND in an educational environment.
- Relevant qualifications and experience (PGCE/CERT ED)
- The ability to work with others collaboratively in a team, and maintain professional standards.
- Knowledge of EHCPS, their purpose and benefits to young people in education.
- Ability to communicate readily with multi-agency and internal teams to ensure the best outcomes for all students at the college.
- Ability and experience to plan and deliver outstanding sessions that adapt to students individual needs whilst being well resources and prepared for. Experience and evidence of adapting curriculum plans to meet varying needs and abilities at pre entry to entry level 2.
- Understanding of safeguarding process and policies and their importance when working with vulnerable young adults.
- An innovative approach to teaching aligned with the college's values. A willingness to generate and support new ideas to aid learner's communication and
