Role Overview:

The successful candidate will work in an alternative provision school, focusing on delivering personalized assistance to help students realize their academic and personal potential.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Assist students with special educational needs in small group settings.
  • Facilitate classroom activities, ensuring full participation from all students.
  • Establish strong, trust-based relationships with students to foster their social and emotional growth.
  • Manage and de-escalate behavioral challenges using positive reinforcement and effective strategies.
  • Collaborate with educators and staff to create and implement Individual Education Plans (IEPs).
  • Provide individualized support as necessary, aiding students in skill development and confidence building.

Essential Qualities:

  • Experience working with secondary students with special educational needs.
  • Ability to cultivate strong, trust-based relationships with students.
  • Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written.
  • Patience, resilience, and a positive outlook.
  • Capacity to address behavioral issues calmly and effectively.
  • Dependable, hardworking, and committed to student achievement.

The ideal candidate will possess the ability to communicate effectively with students, guiding them to excel in their educational journey. Reliability and a genuine passion for supporting students with special educational needs are crucial. Building trustworthy relationships with students and breaking down barriers to education is essential.

All compensation rates will include statutory holiday pay. This position is temporary, with the possibility of transitioning to a permanent role in the future.
