**About The Role**:
Part time position - 23 hours per week

We offer hybrid and flexible working, supporting working from home.

This is an exciting time to join Dorset’s Adult Safeguarding Team as we look forward and start to develop increased flexibility and specialist focus within the service. With this in mind we are creating an existing new role to enable specific attention to be given to complex practice areas of self-neglect.

The role will support the development of knowledge and skills in the team and work alongside colleagues in the community, to provide guidance and support to individuals where there are concerns for their safety and wellbeing.

We are a very supportive and nurturing team with a clear vision of embedding high quality safeguarding practice to protect those adults at risk of and/ or experiencing abuse and neglect in the Dorset Council area.

This is a part time role at 23 hours per week.

This post requires significant travel. You must have a vehicle (or transport we deem suitable) available for use as needed.

You must:

- have a degree in social work/Occupational Therapy or equivalent
- be registered with the Health and Care Professions Council (HCPC)
- be able to fulfil the travel requirements of the post

What you can expect to be doing:
As the **Self-neglect Safeguarding Adult Practitioner,** you will:

- Be the point of contact for self-neglect advice, guidance, and support in the development of preventative strategies and where appropriate section 42.2 enquiries.
- Be required to work to work in a co-ordinated and multi-agency approach to ensure the support provided to the person is effective and enables the person to make positive changes in their life and their identified outcomes.
- Be able to work alongside and closely with our key partners and stakeholders, including the Police, Care Quality Commission, Health Providers, and voluntary sector.
- ‘Making Safeguarding Personal’ principles are at the heart of all we do. You will be working alongside the person throughout their journey and support them to achieve the outcomes they wish to achieve.
- Be working in a strengths-based way to undertake and complete assessments and care and support planning.

About you:
You will be a dynamic social worker with a strong value base and sense of person-centred practice who can use a strengths-based approach.

You will be required to have previous experience of working with individuals who self-neglect and adult safeguarding.

You will have excellent communication skills, enjoy working in a fast-paced environment, have a flexible approach and be able to work closely with a range of professionals.

You will be creative and passionate about enabling people to be as independent as possible.

You will need to be confident with the legal basis for practice and be able to demonstrate a good understanding of the Care Act 2014, Mental Capacity Act 2005, Mental Health Act 2007, Human Rights Act 1998, Equality Act 2010 and Immigration and Asylum Act 1999.

You will embrace continuous professional development.

You will have a degree or equivalent in social work and be registered with Social Work England.

You will be able to fulfil the travel requirements of the post.
