This is a new role within the service. You will be responsible for leading, organising and managing planned caesarean section and induction of labour scheduling for the service. This will involve developing robust pathways to ensure that work is balanced across the service and transitioning to the electronic booking of planned work.

You will also support coordinating the operational activity of the maternity services to maintain safety and flow through the service, including acute and elective admissions. This will include carrying the unit coordinator bleep when on duty as part of the wider leadership team.

There will be the opportunity to provide individualised care to support women making informed decisions about their care and developing the service to improve experience. There will also be the opportunity to work clinically as part of this role, supporting induction of labour and caesarean sections.

Manage the capacity and flow of women and birthing people undergoing induction of labour and planned caesarean birth.

Implement local and national guidance in line with the safe delivery of care.

Support the flow of the unit by carrying the unit coordinator bleep as part of the senior leadership team.

Work with the multidisciplinary team to enhance women and birthing people's experience and safety.

Maintain own professional development and learning.

Support research and actively participate in audit and governance.

Support the learning of midwifery and medical students rotating through the service.

All post holders are expected to fulfil mandatory training requirements, engage in continuous learning and support education and training of others commensurate to their role.
- To work collaboratively with the senior team to implement, deliver and evaluate effective capacity and flow through the unit
- To collaborate with the Senior Midwifery and Operational Teams to ensure the delivery of high standards of clinical care within the service.
- To provide professional advice and support regarding safeguarding issues to staff, ensuring that the agreed procedures are followed, and that appropriate referral is made to an external agency if necessary
- To provide senior midwifery support and advice to all clinical areas, including infection control and clinical skills such as commencing induction of labours.
- Lead on the induction of labour and elective caesarean section work within maternity to ensure and safe, effective, efficient and responsive service.
- Support service users in their journey through the service by ensuring clear lines of communication and advice is provided around any potential delays and act as a contact for women to raise concerns.
- Empower women to make the choices they feel are right for them as individuals, to be aware of their choices and care options; and ensure women and their partners understand the benefits, risks and choices available for safe effective care and that they can articulate their decisions including possible outcomes
- Review the antenatal information offer for women with considering caesarean section or induction of labour and be able to deliver parent education sessions.
