We have an exciting opportunity in the Cardiovascular Research Unit (CVRU) for someone with a passion for research looking to use their skills to make a difference to the future of patients with cardiovascular disease. The CVRU runs an exciting programme of cardiovascular clinical studies and strives to deliver research that has an international impact. This post will be based in the CVRU which is located at the Centre for Biomedical Research, Northern General Hospital, Sheffield, and is directed by Professor Rob Storey. The position will include all aspects of running cardiovascular clinical trials including; set-up and conduct of trials, support of team members, and patient recruitment. The CVRU team conducts these studies in patients with cardiovascular disease, diabetes and healthy volunteers. The focus of current work is in the areas of atherothrombosis and hyperlipidaemia, investigating the effects of antithrombotic and other secondary prevention medications.

Applicants will be expected to have a qualification in science or equivalent and experience in either clinical trial management or clinical cardiology and will require associated skills for delivery of sophisticated clinical studies. Excellent IT and interpersonal skills are also required. The post will involve handling of blood samples and training in relevant clinical skills. Ability to work accurately under pressure whilst maintaining sensitivity towards patients and their relatives is essential. The post is based within a multidisciplinary team.
